COVID-19 crisis: New weekly insights for the US market

With bars and restaurants impacted by city-wide lock downs across the the United States, the COVID-19 outbreak is having a very real impact on the on-premise market. CPL Learning Launches Free Coronavirus e-learning Course

FREE online course just released by CPL Learning “Coronavirus – Taking Proactive Action”. CPL Learning’s new e-learning course has been developed specifically to support the hospitality industry and helps guide businesses in making preparations and contingencies to deal with the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Aimed predominantly at outlet management, it covers what coronavirus is and how the infection spreads, areas to consider and plan for, operational tips, training guides and the most up-to-date hygiene advice for food and drink establishments. There will also be a range of support materials to be used in venues to support the course.

Restaurant, pub and bar businesses left reeling by coronavirus and new immigration rules

Confidence among the bosses of Britain’s pub and restaurant groups has been fractured by the double whammy of coronavirus and the Government’s new immigration policy, a new poll this week reveals. It found that 85% of senior executives across the out-of-home food and drink market said they were now “concerned” about the threat of coronavirus to their business, with 58% of leaders “very concerned”. The snap survey of close to 100 bosses, from small entrepreneurial operations up to the big corporates, was conducted by CGA, the hospitality sector’s leading insight and data provider.

Rum sales jump 7% to spice up spirits and cocktails market

CGA research shows more than five million people now drink rum out-of-home, with spiced and flavoured varieties powering interest.
Data from CGA’s exclusive On-Premise Measurement tool shows that rum sales rose 7.0% year-on-year in 2019, putting it well ahead of other mainstream spirits including brandy (up 3.1%), whiskey (up 0.9%) and vodka (down 0.4%).
