New Openings Roundup 6th October

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Ikaro, a new fusion restaurant and bar from the Dabangg Hospitality group, has just opened on John Dalton Street in Manchester. The brand is also launching in Leeds in November, with Edinburgh and London locations to follow next year. Dabangg now runs around 20 restaurants, including the Estabulo Rodizio and Sakku Samba brands. 

 

Thai restaurant group Giggling Squid is to open a site on Shrewsbury High Street in early 2024. It joins a pipeline of new openings that also includes Cardiff, Epsom, Knowle and Muswell Hill. 

 

Denmark-based restaurant group Sticks’n’Sushi will open its biggest UK site so far in Kingston next week. It will have 220 covers and becomes the tenth Sticks’n’Sushi restaurant in the UK. 

 

The Caffe Concerto café and patisserie group is opening at the Victoria Leeds centre shortly. It will be a second location outside London for the brand after Birmingham. 

 

Urban Pubs & Bars opens its first transport hub venue next week, at Waterloo station in London. The Victory Pub & Kitchen will be the Urban group’s 43rd site in total. 

 

Pizza Pilgrims says it will open a new restaurant on Boar Lane in Leeds in mid-November. 

 

Vietnamese brand Pho has applied for permission to open at Broadway Chambers at Fulham Broadway. 

 

US brand Slim Chickens has confirmed two more UK restaurant openings in Bury St Edmonds and York under its franchise partnership with Boparan Restaurant Group. 

 

Bowling, bar and restaurant concept Lane7 has opened its largest location yet at Bullring & Grand Central in Birmingham. The 28,000 square feet flagship space has room for up to 1,000 visitors and offers augmented darts, floor shuffle, curling, ping pong, pool and karaoke as well as bowling plus a rooftop terrace bar with views across Birmingham. 

 

The City Pub Group has announced the acquisition of two pubs: Simmons Bar on Bateman Street in London’s Soho and the Plough on Cornmarket in central Oxford. The City Pub Group currently runs 52 pubs in southern England and Wales.  

 

Tortilla is recruiting for an opening on White Lion Street in Norwich, local media report.  

 

Scotland-based burger group Bread Meats Bread is launching at the Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow. It will be a seventh site for the group, joining three in Glasgow and three in Edinburgh. 

 

Wiltshire brewery Rude Giant Brew Co is opening a new taproom and restaurant in Salisbury. Rude Giant Beer House is a 1,500 square feet site. 

 

Marble Arch Indian restaurant Biryani Kebab Chai opened a second site on Moor Street in Soho this week, with more new locations due to follow. 

 

Clerkenwell’s Mexican concept Breddos Tacos opened a second London restaurant on Stoke Newington High Street this week. 

 

Altrincham-based Burrito Picante is opening in Stoke-on-Trent, local media report. It has also lined up new venues in Liverpool and Manchester.
