The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Street food and bar collective Boxpark is to open its first venue outside London in Liverpool towards the end of next year. It will be a part of the Cains Brewery Village in the city’s Baltic Triangle. Boxpark’s plans are for a 15,800 square feet site with 400 internal covers and 200 more outside, incorporating ten kitchen units and three bars.

 

Arc Inspirations has set out plans to open five new venues in the next six months—three Manahatta bars in Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield, and two Box sports bars in Birmingham and Nottingham. The plans follow investment from BGF earlier this year.

 

The Craft Beer Co is to open a new site next to Paddington station in London in November. It will be an eighth location for the group, joining Brighton, Brixton, Clerkenwell, Covent Garden, Hammersmith, Limehouse and St Mary Axe.

 

Nando’s, Five Guys and Zizzi have all signed for restaurant units at the Odyssey development in Belfast. They are due to open in February as part of a revamp of the centre.

 

Thai group Giggling Squid is to launch a new restaurant on Muswell Hill Road in London in mid-2023. It is taking over a unit previously occupied by Bill’s. Giggling Squid will also open at the Lexicon development in Bracknell early next year, with more openings lined up in towns and cities including Cardiff, Shrewsbury and Winchester.

 

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has confirmed four new UK openings—in Cambridge, Derby, Leicester and Liverpool. The Derby restaurants will be the first to launch in October. Another new opening comes this weekend in Nottingham.

 

The Real Greek has just launched a 4,035 square feet restaurant at the dining hub of Gloucester Quays. The 170-cover restaurant is The Real Greek’s third new opening of the year.

 

Pizza and pasta brand Wildwood opened at the Orchard Centre in Didcot in Oxfordshire this week.

 

The international Experimental Group is opening a major new cocktail bar and live music venue called Stereo on the Piazza at Covent Garden later this year. It will have a bar, restaurant and capacity for 400 people. Experimental has four other bars and hotels in London.

 

Street food operator Kerb opened its Cowcross Yard Market collective in Farringdon this week. It has eight street food concepts that are taking part in Kerb’s incubator programme including mentoring and workshops. The market will operate every Thursday lunchtime.

 

JD Wetherspoon has submitted plans to open a new pub called The Thimble in Marlow, local media report. It wants to convert a retail unit on the town’s Market Square.

 

Scotland’s Buzzworks group is opening a new restaurant and pub called Thirty Knots in South Queensferry in Edinburgh in November. Buzzworks currently has 13 venues in Scotland.

 

LabTech has announced the opening of Camden Coffee Roastery at Camden Market Hawley Wharf. The 1,600 square feet venue has been launched by Exmouth Coffee Roasters and includes a coffee tasting bar, with 30 covers inside and 30 more outside.

 

Doner Shack opens a 65-cover restaurant at the Silverburn centre in Glasgow this weekend. It is the brand’s fourth location, after Leeds, Leicester and Manchester, with another opening lined up for Baker Street in London.
