New Openings Roundup 9th June

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

African brand Afrikana and Chipotle Mexican Grill have both signed to open units at the Entertainment District in the O2 centre. Afrikana will open a 2,000 square feet unit while Chipotle has taken a 1,800 square feet space.  

 

Loungers has just opened the Occulo Lounge in Southport, in an old retail unit. It is Loungers’ 192nd Lounge and 228th site in total. Loungers also opened the second location for its Brightside restaurant brand off the A38 near Saltash in Cornwall this week. 

 

The REKOM group’s Proud Mary pub brand is opening in Swansea in an old nightclub on Wind Street in the town in the autumn. It will be a second Proud Mary site after a launch in Cardiff late last year. 

 

Bristol Beer Factory has opened a new bar called Junction at Wapping Wharf in the city. It becomes the brand’s fourth venue in Bristol. 

 

Six by Nico has announced plans to open a new restaurant on East Parade in Leeds in early July. 

 

Ossett Pub Company and Salt Brewing will jointly reopen The Bingley pub in Horbury near Wakefield in late June. 

 

The Asian-inspired Lucky Cat brand from Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant group opened on King Street in Manchester last week, in a unit that was occupied until 2019 by Jamie’s Italian. 

 

Thai brand Rosa’s has set 1 July for the opening of its latest new restaurant on the Parade in Leamington Spa. 

 

Ceviche restaurant group Crudo Cevicheriahas opened its latest site on Monmouth Street in Covent Garden’s Seven Dials neighbourhood. The 360 square feet space with 20 covers joins the brand’s three other restaurants in Hackney, Fitzrovia and Old Street. 

 

Burger & Sauce has announced an opening in Selly Oak—its sixth location in Birmingham and 13th restaurant in total. 

 

A new all-day Indian restaurant called Kachori has just opened on Ash Avenue in Lendlease’s Elephant Park neighbourhood. The 130-cover restaurant has been developed by the team behind Mango in Borough. 

 

Wendy’s is opening at the Ram Jam services in Rutland, developer Godwin has announced. Loungers’ Brightside brand and Costa Coffee have also signed for units at the development, which is due to start work later this year. 

 

Café and bar brand Bear will open on Carlton Street in Hockley this summer, local media report. Bear now has seven sites around the Midlands. 

 

Chinese quick service brand Oodles has just opened in Walsall. It now has 36 sites, with nine more to follow this year, including in Aberdeen, Birmingham, Glasgow, London, Newcastle and Northampton. 

 

Five Guys has submitted plans to open at the Middlebrook retail and leisure development near Manchester, local media report.  

 

The US restaurant group TAO is opening a branch of its Italian concept LAVO Ristorante within the new BoTree hotel off London’s Oxford Street. Tao already runs brands including Hakkasan and Yauatcha in London, and LAVO Ristorante operates in Los Angeles.  

 

Popeyes is opening a drive-through restaurant at the Cardiff Bay retail park, continuing a rollout of drive-throughs around the UK. 

 

The Chopstix noodle bar brand is opening at London Luton airport shortly—its first airport restaurant. 

 

Amsterdam-based brand The Avocado Show is opening a second restaurant in Covent Garden in the summer. Its other London restaurant opened in Mayfair in 2021.
