The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Las Iguanas will open a new 200-cover restaurant in Canterbury early next week—its first site in Kent. It has moved into a unit that was previously occupied by Café Rouge until summer 2020.

 

PizzaExpress has applied for permission to open a new restaurant at the Odyssey development in Belfast. It would be a fifth site in the city for the brand.

 

Market Place opens a new food hall on Lambeth Place in Vauxhall this weekend. It has 12 traders including Bread Ahead, Rudies Jerk Shack, Karapincha, Mamma Mia Pasta, Argentinian Grill, Momo Thai and Hermanos Taco House. There is also a bar and space for 200 people. Vauxhall joins two other Market Place venues in Hounslow and Peckham.

 

Leeds-based brewery and pub operator North Brewing Co will open in Snow Hill in Birmingham in November—its first venue outside of Yorkshire. The 2,500 square feet North Taproom will have space for 180 people, 24 tap lines and food from Leeds’ Korean brand Little Bao Boy. North Brewing Co has eight sites in Yorkshire, with another new opening to follow on Circle Square in Manchester.

 

Slim Chickens will open its first restaurant in Northern Ireland in mid-October, on Boucher Square in Belfast. The 2,800 square feet restaurant will take Slim Chickens to 30 sites in the UK as it continues a rapid rollout under the Boparan Restaurant Group.

 

Loungers has submitted plans to open a Lounge in Wimborne in Dorset. It wants to convert a former bank building in the town.

 

Five Guys is to open a 4,000 square feet restaurant at Cardinal Place in Victoria. Landsec has also announced other openings in Victoria, including The Palm House restaurant from the Incipio group, Portuguese chicken concept Casa do Frango and social coffee enterprise Change Please.

 

JD Wetherspoon has secured planning permission for a new opening at the Crescent development in Hinckley. It intends to convert an old retail unit into a 6,000 square feet pub.

 

The D&D London group says it will open Orelle, its new restaurant, bar and café on the top floor of a building in Birmingham’s Colmore Row, on 14 October. As well as the 3,800 square feet restaurant at the top, there will be a café and outdoor terrace on the ground floor.

 

Korean street food style concept Bunsik will launch its third venue on Camden High Street in October. It will join two other Bunsik branches on Charing Cross Road and Villiers Street.

 

Lendlease has announced the opening of three new sites at Elephant Park: The Rosy Hue, a 3,100 square feet, 150-cover neighbourhood pub from the south London group Livelyhood; Mexican fusion restaurant and bar Cheeky Chicos; and Korean-Japanese restaurant Kokoro. The three concepts are all located on Elephant Park’s lifestyle hub, Ash Avenue. The openings mean Livelyhood now has eight pubs in London, while Cheeky Chicos has four sites. Kokoro has around 55 sites across the UK.

 

Speciality coffeeshop group Society Café has opened its fifth site on Baldwin Street in Bristol. The brand has another location in Bristol, plus one in Oxford and two in Bath.
