New Openings Roundup 20th October

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

The Boxpark group is opening a major new food hall and events space in the Digbeth area of Birmingham. The venue at Floodgate Street Arches will be its first site in the Midlands and is due to launch in 2025. The 17,000 square feet space will have 10 kitchen units and four bars across two floors. 

 

Competitive socialising group Flight Club Darts has submitted an application to open in Liverpool, local media report. It wants to move into a unit on Kenyon Steps in Liverpool ONE that was previously occupied by Boujee. 

 

Thai street food group Zaap Thai is opening at the Riverwalk development in Durham, local media report. The brand also has restaurants in Headingley, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and York. 

 

Eggslut is opening a fourth London restaurant, at East Village in Stratford. It is the brand’s biggest venue so far and launches next week. The other three Eggslut branches are in Fitzrovia, Notting Hill and Shoreditch. 

 

Jamie Oliver’s restaurant group has announced details of a new venue launching in London’s Covent Garden in late November. It will be called Jamie Oliver Catherine Street and will focus on British food culture. 

 

The Loungers group launched its latest Cosy Club bar and restaurant on Cornmarket Street in Oxford this week. It also opened the Alfredo Lounge in Louth in Scotland. 

 

El Pastor, a Mexican restaurant group run by the Harts Group, is opening at the redeveloped Battersea Power Station next Spring. El Pastor has three other locations in London. 

 

The Six By Nico tasting menu restaurant group has set 30 November for the opening of its 13th venue, in Colmore Row in Birmingham.  

 

Shaftesbury Capital has announced three more F&B openings in Covent Garden: Swiss chocolatier Läderach, independent confectionary brand Lakrids by Bülow, and Barnaby’s, from the people behind Buns From Home and Crème. They follow nine restaurant openings confirmed by Shaftesbury in the last six months: The Breakfast Club, Fatto a Mano,Colonel Saab,Ikkan Sushi, Bone Daddies, Notto, WatchHouse, Crudo Cevicheria and Gaucho 

 

Blue Marlin Ibiza, a ‘beach club’ concept with bar, restaurant, nightclub and members’ club, is opening in London, at the Mondrian Shoreditch.   

 

Sixes, the cricket-based competitive socialising concept, opens its latest new venue at the Westquay centre in Southampton next week. 

 

US fried chicken brand Wingstop will open a restaurant at Merry Hill in the West Midlands later this year. It will have a 2,650 square feet unit on the upper hall, close to the recently-opened Wagamama. 

 

Poke House has just opened on Maddox Street in Mayfair—its tenth restaurant in London. 

 

German Doner Kebab opens its new Aberdeen restaurant in an old retail unit in Aberdeen next week. 

 

The Coffee House group has just opened a new branch in Macclesfield—its 17th location in north west England. 

 

Fish and chip shop group Poppies is to open a fourth site in London in December, on Portobello Road. It joins the existing Poppies sites in Spitalfields, Soho and Camden.
