The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

US burger brand Shake Shack will open in a former retail unit on Cornmarket in Oxford early next year. Shake Shack currently has 17 UK sites—16 in London and the south east and one in Cardiff.

 

African-inspired restaurant group Afrikana has just opened at the Entertainment District at the O2 centre in London. It has taken a 1,900 square feet unit next to Las Iguanas. The launch is Afrikana’s second location in London after Dalston, and 15th in total.

 

Hotel chain Travelodge has sub-let a space at its Northampton Upton Way hotel to US brand Popeyes Louisiana Chicken for a drive-through restaurant. It continues a partnership strategy that has seen Travelodge share space at its hotels with food and drink operators including Greggs, Green Hill Pubs, KFC, Marstons, McDonald’s, Starbucks and Subway.

 

Pizza Pilgrims will open a restaurant in East Croydon in February 2024. The location is yet to be announced.

 

Leeds brewer Northern Monk is opening a new venue called The Northern Market in the city’s former Assembly Underground on Great George Street in early November. It will have a beer hall and food market with vendors including Falafel Guys, Big Buns and Six Slice Pizza. It will be the brewery’s second venue in Leeds after The Old Flax Store on Marshall Street.

 

London pizza group Yard Sale Pizza is opening on Manor Lane in Hither Green in November—its 11th location.

 

Mitchells & Butlers is to launch a New Orleans-inspired US barbecue restaurant called Orleans Smokehouse in Solihull near Birmingham in early 2024.

 

YouTube collective The Sidemen are shortly launching a standalone restaurant on Kingsland High Street in Dalston. The brand has previously operated at food halls in London.

 

The Breakfast Club will reach 15 sites in the next few weeks with a new opening on Neal Street at Seven Dials in Covent Garden.

 

Wagamama has submitted plans to open a new restaurant at the Teesside retail and leisure park in north east England, local media report.

 

I Am Döner is to launch its first site in London under a new franchise. It will be 30-seat restaurant in Chalk Farm. I Am Döner currently has operations in Harrogate, Headingley, Leeds, Bootle and Datchet.

 

Korean street food brand Bunsik is opening a fifth site at Westfield Stratford in December. It will be the group’s first food court location and joins sites in Camden, Embankment, Leicester Square and Manchester.

 

Scottish group Tony Macaroni says it will open a new restaurant in Cumbernauld in north Lanarkshire in January 2024.

 

Indian street food style brand Chaiiwala has opened in High Wycombe—its 92nd site in the UK.

 

The team behind The Tamil Prince Indian restaurant in Islington is to open a second site called The Tamil Crown.

 

The Origin Coffee brand has just opened in Bristol. It is a seventh location for Origin, and a first outside London and Cornwall.

 

Hollywood Bowl will open a new venue in Lincoln early next year, local media report.
