New Openings Roundup 16th February

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Brazilian steakhouse group Rio has opened in the Assembly Rooms on George Street in Edinburgh—its first opening in Scotland and eighth location in total. The Edinburgh unit was previously occupied by Jamie’s Italian. Rio also has an opening in the pipeline in Sunderland. 

 

Canada-based quick service restaurant chain Mary Brown’s Chicken is moving into the UK with at Lisburn Leisure Park in Northern Ireland next week. The brand, which has around 200 restaurants in Canada, has plans for several more openings in Northern Ireland. 

 

Spitalfields-based US-style pizza restaurant Detroit Pizza has just opened a second site off Upper Street in Islington.  

 

German Doner Kebab is launching in the Glasswalk area of the Cabot Circus development in Bristol.  

 

Loungers has just opened the Verraco Lounge on the high street in Bromsgrove near Birmingham.  

 

Café group Bob & Berts has reached the milestone of 30 sites with an opening in Strabane in Northern Ireland. 

 

The Heartwood Collection has acquired the Royal Forest pub and hotel at Epping Forest in Essex. 

 

Wendy’s has submitted plans to open a restaurant on the high street in Southend, local media report. Its franchisee has also planned another Essex opening in Chelmsford. 

 

Two new Chopstix restaurants have opened under a partnership with the Welcome Break network of motorway service stations—at Newport Pagnell off the M1 and Membury off the M4. Chopstix is also to open a second site in partnership with holiday park group Butlins, at Minehead. 

 

Richard Caring’s hospitality group plans to open a Harry’s bar and restaurant at Terminal House in London’s Victoria. There are currently three Harry’s venues in London. 

 

Burger brand You Want Beef? is about to open under franchise in Northampton. It will be a seventh site for the group. There are more openings planned in towns including Bedford, Birmingham, Burton-upon-Trent, Coventry, Derby and Milton Keynes. 

 

Vivek Singh’s restaurant group Cinnamon Collection is opening a second Cinnamon Bazaar in Richmond in early March, in a unit previously occupied by Carluccio’s. The first Cinnamon Bazaar is in Covent Garden.  

 

The La Mia Mamma Italian group will shortly open Fish & Bubbles, a seafood and aperitivo bar located in a unit next to its restaurant on Kensington Park Road in Notting Hill.
