New Openings Roundup 9th February

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

The Real Greek and The Botanist have both just opened at Grosvenor’s Liverpool ONE development. The Real Greek has taken a 3,900 square feet unit with 162 covers inside and 38 outside. The Botanist’s venue is its first in Liverpool, and has 6,400 square feet of space. Competitive socialising brand Flight Club is also launching nearby shortly. 

 

Nando’s opened its first new restaurant of 2024 this week, at Marine Point in New Brighton on the Wirral. Nando’s will also launch at the Tesco Extra superstore in Kingston Park in Newcastle later this month, according to local media.  

 

Wagamama has opened a new restaurant at Bentley Bridge in Wolverhampton. It is the first of what it says will be up to ten new restaurants this year, including in Chatham, Doncaster, Epsom and Watford. Wagamama currently has around 170 restaurants across the UK. 

 

Competitive socialising group Red Engine says it will complete three new openings in 2023: two for its Flight Club brand in Oxford and Liverpool, and one for its Electric Shuffle concept in Manchester. Red Engine also plans eight international openings this year.  

 

Asian street food restaurant and bar NOKO and Venezuelan all-day group Arepa & Co have signed for openings at Lendlease’s Elephant Park development. It is a second London site for NOKO and a fifth location for Arepa & Co. Kiki and Miumiu, an independent pan-Asian food market, has also just launched a new store at Elephant Park. 

 

Shropshire brewery Joule’s will open in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter next week, after taking on the Red Lion pub there. It will become part of Joule’s group of just over taphouses. 

 

Mission Mars’ pizza restaurant brand Rudy’s is to open in Prestwich, local media report—its seventh site in the Manchester area. 

 

South east Asian restaurant Banana Tree, part of the Big Table group, is opening at the Lowry Outlet centre in Salford Quays next week. It will be its 19th location and first in the north west. 

 

Loungers has applied for planning permission to open at the Lexicon centre in Bracknell, local media report.  

 

Pub operator Chickpea Group is opening a seventh pub after acquiring the Market Inn in Salisbury. 

 

Korean street food style group Bunsik is launching a sixth site at Earl’s Court Road. The 1,600 square feet site is due to open in April.  

 

Yum Bug, an insects-based concept that ran a pop-up in Shoreditch last year, is opening a permanent restaurant on Fonthill Road in Finsbury Park. It is due to launch on 20 February. 

 

On-the-go noodle brand Chopstix has just opened at Victoria Place above London’s Victoria station, as it continues a plan to roll out sites at travel hubs. 

 

Taco Bell will open at the South Mimms service station off the M25 on 19 February, under a new partnership with the Welcome Break group.
