Wingstop has announced plans for its largest UK site yet, at the Westfield Stratford shopping centre. The 5,000 square feet unit with 160 covers is scheduled to open in early 2024. It continues a rapid rollout of the US fried chicken brand under franchisee Lemon Pepper Holdings.
Mexican brand Benito’s is about to open a restaurant in the departures lounge of London Luton Airport. The 750 square feet unit is the first franchised opening for Benito’s, in partnership with Airport Retail Enterprises UK.
All-day neighbourhood restaurant concept Megan’s will open on Parsons Green Lane in London early next year. It has taken on a unit that was previously occupied by Le Pain Quotidien. The 150-cover venue will be the 19th Megan’s site, with four more openings scheduled for 2024. The group closed its original Parsons Green site earlier this year.
All-you-can-eat buffet group Cosmo has opened a new restaurant called Umami World Kitchen in Coventry. It is a revamp of a Cosmo restaurant there that has been closed since 2018. Cosmo plans to roll out the Umami World Kitchen format to several smaller sites in 2024.
Two new venues are opening on the site of the Tiger bar and club within The Light on Albion Street in Leeds early next year: food, drink, gaming and live music concept Carousel and Home Nightclub.
Mediterranean concept Olive Tree Brasserie has just opened on South Parade in Leeds—its fourth location after Chester, Lytham and Stockton Heath.
Brazilian steakhouse group Rio will open its first Scottish restaurant in the Assembly Rooms on George Street in Edinburgh early next year, local media report. The 150-cover site will be Rio’s eighth location, after Chester, Durham, Jesmond, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Warrington and York. Another opening is following in Sunderland next year.
Loungers has signed up for an opening at the Galleries shopping centre in Washington in north east England. It has taken a 3,900 square feet unit.
A new Singaporean restaurant called Singapulah is launching on London’s Shaftesbury Avenue in February. It is a partnership between restaurateur Ellen Chew and a Singaporean government enterprise agency that wants to showcase the country’s food and culture.
Community pub group Amber Taverns has announced plans for four new locations, in Airdrie, Bridgend, Derby and Motherwell. The pubs will launch in the Spring.
Oxford-based Indian restaurant group Dosa Park is opening in Cirencester. It will be a fourth location for the brand, after two in Oxford and one in Kidlington.
Pret a Manger has announced plans for new openings in Greece, under a partnership with the SSP group. They will be in airports around the country’s islands.
