The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Pizza Punks has announced plans to open in Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester in 2024, having appointed FRP Corporate Finance to raise capital. Pizza Punks currently has eight sites in Belfast, Durham, Glasgow, Leicester, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle and Nottingham. 

 

ASK Italian and Sides have both just opened at the Merry Hill development near Dudley in the west Midlands. ASK Italian has a 3,350 square feet restaurant with 140 covers, while Sides has a 2,960 square feet space with 100 covers. It is a first location outside London for the Sides brand. 

 

BrewDog and SSP have opened a new pub at Gatwick airport’s North Terminal. It has 20 beer lines plus features including Zoom rooms and gaming zone. BrewDog and SPP plan to open more sites at airports and train stations under their partnership. 

 

The Comptoir Libanais group has announced an opening at the Southbank Centre in London. It will be opposite the entrance to the Royal Festival Hall, close to other brands including neighbouring Las Iguanas, Côte and Honest Burgers. The 135-cover unit will open around Easter 2024. 

 

The Roxy Leisure group will launch a site under its Ball Room competitive socialising brand at Stonebow House in York in February. Roxy currently has 18 venues around the UK, following recent launches in Cheltenham and Liverpool. 

 

Kebhouze, a kebab restaurant brand founded in Italy, is moving into the UK with a three-floor site on London’s Oxford Street. It is due to open just before Christmas. Kebhouze currently has 24 sites in Italy and Spain. 

 

71 Brewing in Dundee is opening a restaurant, bar an live music venue called The Maker in the city. 

 

Oxygenis opening a new 20,000 square feet flagship venue at Clifton Moor retail park in York in February. It marks a first new-build greenfield location for Oxygen, and a rebranding of the business as Oxygen Activeplay. The group also has sites in Acton, Croydon, Derby, The O2, Rayleigh, Romford and Wilmslow. 

 

US fried chicken brand Popeyes opened a restaurant at the East Mall of the Lewisham shopping centre in south London this week, as it continues a rapid rollout around the UK. It has taken a 1,185 square feet unit in the shopping centre. 

 

US-based coffee brand Blank Street will launch at Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester next week. It is a first opening for the group outside London, where it has 22 locations. 

 

Fried chicken brand Miss Millie’s opened this week at the Old Craighall service station near Edinburgh, in partnership with the Motor Fuel Group. It is a first location in Scotland for the brand, which has previously focused on south west England. 

 

Competitive socialising concept Lost City is opening at Odyssey Place in Belfast—its second site in the city. Lost City also has locations in Nottingham and Hull. 

 

Shaftesbury Capital has signed a new Alsace-inspired neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar concept called July for an opening on Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia in the Spring. It is a 1,020 square feet site. 

 

The I Am Doner brand has just opened on Chalk Farm Road in Camden—its first London venture and sixth site in total. The other locations are Bootle, Datchet, Harrogate, Headingley and Leeds.
