Black Sheep Coffee, Neat Burger, Honi Poke and Urban Pubs & Bars have all been confirmed for openings at the 155 Bishopsgate development in the City. Neat Burger is taking a 2,700 square feet unit while Black Sheep Coffee has a 1,200 square feet space and Hawaiian style brand Honi Poke a 500 square feet unit. Urban Pubs & Bars is signed up for a 3,300 square feet space for a bar and restaurant called Nest.
Five Points Brewing Company has just launched its new open-air taproom and pizza operation in Hackney. The pizza is being provided by Ace Pizza.
German Doner Kebab is opening a flagship restaurant shortly at The O2 in London as it continues a rapid UK rollout. It will be the brand’s 65th site in the UK, with plans to open 47 new locations in 2021. The latest opening will be in the O2’s entertainment district.
PizzaLuxe is to open its new flagship restaurant in Manchester Arndale’s Halle Place food quarter on 19 July. It will also have a cocktail bar, and will be an all-day operation with a menu that includes a breakfast pizza. A ‘Coffee & Cake’ kiosk will follow soon after the restaurant.
Kibou Restaurants is opening a third site in Clifton in Bristol in October. The 80-cover Japanese restaurant and bar will join Kibou’s other sites in Battersea and Cheltenham.
BrewDog has submitted plans to open a new bar in Bournemouth, according to local media. It would be at an empty unit at the BH2 development, beneath a Five Guys restaurant.
Leon is opening its first drive-through restaurant in the autumn. It will be off the A650 near Morley in West Yorkshire, with more drive-through locations to follow. The expansion follows the acquisition of Leon by the team behind the EG forecourt retailer group.
London vegan brand Stem & Glory has just opened a second restaurant and bar by the station in Cambridge.
Thai brand Giggling Squid will open shortly on the high street in Hornchurch, according to local media.
The team behind the L’ETO café chain have opened a sister Mediterranean restaurant called My&Sanné, close to the L’ETO on Brompton Road. The brand has four other sites in Soho, Mayfair, Belgravia and King’s Road.
Plant-based restaurant Bad Vegan has opened at Buck Street Market in London’s Camden Market. It has taken two of the shipping containers at the market, covering 415 square feet on the top floor. It has a mostly vegan offer, with a few meat-based dishes too, and has been co-founded by Tom Kerridge’s restaurant team.
The team behind the Kricket restaurant concept are opening a standalone basement bar called Soma on Denman Street in September. It will be next door to the Kricket restaurant on the street.
The Mercers’ Company has announced the signing of coffeeshop brand Redemption Roasters and Italian gelato brand Badiani for new openings. Redemption claims to be the world’s first prison-based coffee company, running roastery training academies in eight prisons, and shops in Chelsea, Islington, Bloomsbury, Liverpool Street, Broadgate, Barbican and Kings Cross. Its opening with Mercers is on Drury Lane in Covent Garden. It is a first West End opening for Badiani, which has taken a 56-cover unit on Mercer Walk, joining sites in Notting Hill, Chelsea, Canary Wharf, Elephant & Castle and Mayfair.
