Industry backs inaugural Plan B ‘Accelerating Change’ Conference

Plan B, the mentoring platform designed to accelerate women’s representation on boards, has announced the launch of its first conference on October 5th in central London.
Ann Elliott, Holly Addison, and Emma Causer

The conference, backed by 10 ‘Founding Partners’ including Greene King, BT Sport, The Restaurant Group Plc and Revolution Bars, is designed to help business leaders accelerate change in the C-Suite. Expert speakers and industry leaders will share both proven interventions and ‘work in progress’ strategies with a laser focus on creating the inclusive cultures where diverse talent will thrive.

Plan B was founded five years ago ‘out of frustration’ by industry professionals – Ann Elliott, Holly Addison and Emma Causer – with a mission to accelerate the promotion of women leaders to the board.

“Balanced boards are a commercial imperative” says co-founder and hospitality NED, Ann Elliott. “The evidence linking diverse boards with high performance is undeniable.”

“The compelling business case, combined with a huge talent shortage in the sector, has put our original mission at the top of the board agenda.” added fellow founder Emma Causer. “This conference is about sharing success and the art of the possible, bringing innovation and fresh perspectives from beyond the sector and accelerating the progress we’ve made” explained Holly Addison.

The conference is supported by diversity champion and one of the original driving forces behind the creation of Plan B, Kate Nicholls, chief executive of UK Hospitality. Kate commented: “This conference is timely. Diversity and Inclusion is now a business-critical issue and I’m in no doubt that operators who grasp the opportunities that balanced boards bring will reap the dividends of their investment – both financially with stronger results, and culturally by attracting the best talent.”

The conference has attracted enthusiastic backing from the industry with 10 Founding Partners pledging support in record time. They span both operator and supplier companies and share Plan B’s mission and values – they are Greene King, BT Sport, Fleet Street Communications, Bidfood, The Restaurant Group Plc, Gusto, Punch, Revolution Bars, Rosa’s Thai and Stint. The event is also supported by venue partner Searcy’s, insights partner CGA and organising partner Peach 20/20.

The ‘Plan B: Accelerating Change Conference’ is a half day event being held on 5 October at 30 Euston Square, London. It is designed for C-level business leaders, founders and HR professionals seeking to learn how to make positive change in their organisations, the industry and by extension – society at large.

The ticket price includes a “plus one” to be shared with an up-and-coming talented colleague from an under-represented group, who may not typically be invited to attend such an event.

High profile speakers already confirmed include Kate Nicholls OBE, Mike Adams OBE, Emma Woods, Lorraine Copes, Robert Cook, Jane O’Riordan, Suzie Welch, Dena Brumpton, Jeannette Linfoot, Laura Harper-Hinton and Jo Fleet.
