This sentiment echoes into the near future, with predictions slightly worsening. More than a third of consumers foresee a severe impact in the next three months.
It’s a starkly contrasting outlook with neighbouring European countries. Italian consumers exhibit the least concern, followed by German consumers, while French participants display the most apprehension about ongoing financial strain. The comparative analysis with Italy and Germany enables a broader lens on the footprint of the crisis across Europe. Italy’s less severe outlook, with only 15% anticipating a severe impact, contrasts with France’s growing concern (37%).
This indicates a unique challenge for French beverage suppliers, and brands in weathering unpredictable market conditions. The crisis has re-shaped consumer habits, yet the findings signpost a clear need for resilience and adaptability in the French On Premise and underpins the need for up-to-date insights on consumers’ engagement, influence and loyalty with the channel to identify opportunities and help protect core brand strategy.
The insights provided by the Report are crucial for industry stakeholders to understand and steer a course through the current landscape. Despite the challenges posed by the cost-of-living crisis, the On Premise continues to play a vital role in the social fabric of French society.
