The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Shake Shack is to open at St Pancras in London in the summer—its first site at a UK train station. Shake Shack currently has 18 sites in the UK.  

 

The Individual Restaurants Group’s Italian brand Piccolino is opening on the high street in Marlow in the summer, in a unit previously run by the group as the Marlow Bar & Grill.  

 

US-based Mexican brand Chipotle opened on Tottenham Court Road in London this week—its 19th location in the UK. 

 

US fried chicken brand Popeyes will open its first restaurant in London in November, at the Westfield Stratford centre. Popeyes’ recent openings include Exeter and Bishop Auckland, and forthcoming ones include a drive-through in Bury and a site on Union Square in Aberdeen in April. Popeyes plans to open up to 350 sites in Britain over the next decade.  

 

Italian group Prezzo is to start selling pasta and pizza at UK train stations, according to reports. Locations are yet to be announced. 

 

Wagamama has secured an opening on Whitehall Street in Dundee. The 4,500 square feet unit is scheduled to open in the summer. The deal for the site was secured by Savills.  

 

Japanese-Peruvian restaurant brand Chotto Matte, which has sites in Soho and Marylebone as well as Toronto, Miami and San Francisco, has confirmed an opening at the St Michael’s mixed-use development in Manchester in early 2025. It will be a 20,000 square feet site on the rooftop there. 

 

Wingstop opened on Boar Lane in central Leeds this week. 

 

The Urban Pubs & Bars group opened its latest new site in Clapham this week. The Red Setter pub is in a unit previously occupied by All Bar One. 

 

YGF Malatang, a street food style restaurant with several thousand locations in China, has opened its first UK site at Hammersmith Broadway in London.  

 

Italian restaurant group Zia Lucia is due to open a new site on St Mary’s Butts in Reading next week—its first location outside London 

 

Loungers has just opened the Vitello Lounge in Ilkley, in a unit previously occupied by Banyan. 

 

Mitchells & Butlers is planning to open a branch of its Browns brasserie and bar concept in Exeter, according to local media. It would replace its Harvester restaurant there. 

 

London Beer Factory is planning to open a new bar in a former gym building on Gedling Place in south east London, local media report. The brewery already runs a taproom called The Barrel Project in Bermondsey. 

 

The SSP group has just opened a new venue called The Evergreen Bar & Brasserie at Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2. 

 

The Heavenly Desserts brand has submitted plans to open on Reform Street in Dundee, local media report.  

 

La Piazza restaurant in Richmond has submitted plans to open a second site in Yarm. 

 

Liverpool-based fried chicken concept Pattersons has just opened a third restaurant at Manchester’s Freight Island. Pattersons’ first two sites are on Gradwell Street and Blackstock Street in Liverpool.
