Openings round-up

Berbere, Solita, Barrafina, Pali Hill and The Burger Priest round out this week's list of new openings.

Italy-based pizzeria restaurant concept Berbere is opening its first UK location shortly. It will operate on the former Radio Alice restaurant on Venn Street in Clapham. Berbere, which has 12 restaurants across Italy, has been brought to the UK by Matteo and Salvatore Aloe, the co-founders of Radio Alice.

The Tramshed Project, new multi-purpose venue for eating, co-working and learning on Rivington Street in Shoreditch, will launch next Friday (9 October). It has been set up by Street Feast founder Dominic Cools-Lartigue with various chefs and a central eating area. There is also a kitchen counter space for tastings and supper clubs, plus a larger events space for talks, screenings, music and exhibitions.

Bowling alley and competitive socialising operator Lane7 is about to open a site in Leicester, with more to follow in Manchester and Bristol over the next few months. The launches were postponed by the pandemic. The Leicester venue will feature several street food style operators in converted shipping containers.

The Burger Priest is opening its eighth restaurant, and its first in the north of England, at The Springs retail and leisure development at Thorpe Park east of Leeds.

Chelsea based pizzeria Cinquecento will open a second restaurant on Portobello Road in Notting Hill in mid-October. Cinquecento also has a delivery kitchen in Battersea.

The Solita bar and grill restaurant brand is opening in York, following the conversion of the Old House pub in the city. It follows the acquisition of Solita by the Shoot the Bull group. Solita also has venues in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and Didsbury, and Hull.

The Chapel Bar, a private events space on Penton Street in Islington, is opening an Italian restaurant called Arenella this weekend.

The Azure Hospitality group is opening a new Indian restaurant and bar called Pali Hill on Mortimer Street in Fitzrovia in the next few weeks. It is modeled on the food of Mumbai.

The Drury Lane branch of Barrafina is to reopen next Thursday (8 October) shortly as Barrafina Mariscos, a seafood focused restaurant. Barrafina has other London restaurants on Dean Street, Adelaide Street and Coal Drops Yard.

Heavenly Desserts is opening a 1,500 square feet restaurant in the Time Square retail and leisure development in Warrington. It will be the brand’s 30th location in all.

Turkey-based burger brand Ohannes Burger opens a third site in Nottingham this weekend. The operator, which has 16 restaurants in Turkey, also has plans to open elsewhere in the east Midlands.

The Black and White Hospitality group has opened a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar & Grill at the Stones Hotel in Salisbury as it continues a rollout of the brand.

The team behind Manchester venues including Albert’s Schloss and Trof is opening a new café, bar, restaurant and event space in the New Cross area called Swan Street Firehouse.
