New Openings Roundup 8th March

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Football-based competitive socialising, bar and restaurant concept Toca Social will open in Birmingham in June. It has taken a large unit at the Bullring centre that was previously occupied by Debenhams. Toca Social launched its first site at the O2 centre in London last year. 

 

New competitive socialising concept Ballerz will launch at the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent in May. The 30,000 square feet venue in a purpose-built dome will have room for 500 people and a café and lounge area. It has been backed by several former professional footballers and there are plans for more openings in due course. 

 

Steakhouse group Flat Iron has confirmed plans for a new 150-cover restaurant on Deansgate in Manchester in early summer. The 4,000 square feet unit will be Flat Iron’s third location outside London, after Leeds and Cambridge, and its 15th site in total. 

 

Italian restaurant group Zizzi is recruiting for an opening at Regents Circus in Swindon, according to local media. 

 

Loungers is lining up a Lounge opening in Totnes in Devon for later this year, local media report. 

 

Rosa’s Thai is to launch in Norwich, after securing a 3,100 square feet unit by Chantry Place that was previously occupied by Byron. 

 

Café group Guilt Trip has opened at Gloucester Docks—its fourth site after Broadway, Cheltenham and Worcester. It has taken over Gloucester Brewery’s Tank venue there. 

 

JD Wetherspoon opened The Five Stones pub at the Primrose Valley holiday park in Filey in Yorkshire this week—its first venue under a partnership with holiday park operator Haven. 

 

Middle Eastern Leeds restaurant Habbibi, founded by influencer Abdu Rozik, is launching a second site in Manchester’s Spinningfields shortly. A London opening is also in the pipeline. 

 

Indian desi-style café brand Karak Chaii is about to open in Coventry. It is also preparing a new site in Tooting. 

 

The team behind Shoreditch’s Smokestak and Manteca restaurants is about to open a new Greek street food style concept called Agora on Bedale Street at Borough Market. 

 

The Black and White Hospitality group, fronted by Marco Pierre White, is to launch a new pub concept called Marco Pierre White Ale House in Felixstowe later this year. As well as pub food it will have a steakhouse area.  

 

The Anglian Country Inns group has acquired the White Horse pub in Holme-next-the-Sea in Norfolk—its tenth location.  

 

East London breakfast delivery service Bangers is opening a new permanent site at Leonard Circus in Shoreditch in mid-April. It will have a deli area as well as a sit-in space.
