The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

The New World Trading Co’s bar and restaurant brand The Botanist is to open at the Three Spires shopping centre in Lichfield in Staffordshire. It is a joint investment with the district council.

 

Albert’s Schloss, the Bavarian-style bar and restaurant group with sites in Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham, has set 5 July for the opening of its major new venue in London. It has taken a site at the Trocadero centre off Shaftesbury Avenue. 

 

The Red Engine group will open a branch of its Electric Shuffle competitive socialising brand in Manchester in mid-June. It will be the fourth UK site for Electric Shuffle and a second in the city for Red Engine, after Flight Club.

 

Wingstop opened this week on Clapham High Street in London—its 44th location in the UK. More new openings coming shortly in London include Westfield Stratford City.

 

Loungers has submitted plans to open a new Lounge in an old retail unit in Lytham on the Lancashire coast, local media report.

 

Dishoom has confirmed an opening for its Permit Room bar and café brand on Trinity Street in Cambridge. It is in a unit that was occupied by Strada until it closed down five years ago. Dishoom also has Permit Rooms in London and Brighton.

 

The Fulham Shore group’s The Real Greek is soft-launching at Sheffield’s Meadowhall centre next week, with a full opening to follow on 13 May. it is the brand’s second opening of 2024 after Liverpool.

 

Afrikana has confirmed plans for four new openings in London between June and September: in Ilford, Kingston, Holloway and Hounslow. Two more sites, in Tooting and Reading, have also been acquired but do not have opening dates yet.

 

The Westfield London centre has announced the signing of Japanese ramen restaurant Kanada-Ya. It will open a 1,900 square feet site there shortly—a sixth location for the brand after Angel, Carnaby, Covent Garden, Ealing and Piccadilly.

 

Nando’s has applied for permission to open a new restaurant at the Arun retail park in Bognor Regis in Sussex, local media report.

 

Jamaya, a Caribbean concept with two restaurants at Colmore Row in Birmingham and Solihull, is to launch a third at the Harbourside in Bristol. It is scheduled to open in August.

 

New burger brand Brgr Lab will open two new sites under franchise in Birmingham and Leicester in the autumn. The concept launched in Coventry.

 

The Metrocentre in Gateshead has announced the signing of immersive escape room and steampunk-style bar concept The Escapologist. It is opening a 4,400 square feet space in the centre’s Yellow Mall in the summer—a third site for the brand after Leeds and the Xscape centre.

 

Taiwanese concept Master Bao, which operates at the Westfield centre in west London, is to open a second site at Westfield Stratford in late May.

 

The JKS Restaurants group is launching a third pub in partnership with restaurateur Dominic Jacobs—The Crown on Chiswick High Road. It will be known as The Hound when it reopens in July.

 

Gail’s opened in Brentford this week. It has plans to open up to 35 new sites this year, with Bristol, Chester and Thame all the pipeline.

 

That Burger Place, a Manchester-based US-style burger restaurant concept with sites in Salford and Walkden, will open a third location on Sunny Bank Road in Bury this summer.
