F1 Arcade, the virtual motor racing simulator venue and bar at St Paul’s in London, opened its second location at the Paradise development in Birmingham this week. It follows a £6m investment in the site. F1 Arcade is also planning an opening in Boston in the US, with another following in Washington DC.

 

Jamie Oliver’s restaurant group opens its long-awaited new Jamie Oliver Catherine Street restaurant in London’s Covent Garden on Tuesday.

 

Hickory’s Smokehouse opened this week in Wrexham. It is the group’s 19th location in total.

 

Greene King has just opened a new pub and 60-bedroom hotel called The Quays in Little Billing on the outskirts of Northampton. It follows a conversion of a Premier Inn there.

 

Malaysian and Singaporean brand Roti King is opening a third restaurant in London in early December, on Lower Marsh in Waterloo. The other two sites are in Battersea and Euston.

 

Oakman Inns is opening in St Albans after a deal with the local council to redevelop Batchwood Hall, an old manor house. It will have a bar, restaurant, hotel and events space when it opens in 2025.

 

Indian street food brand Mowgli has just opened its latest new restaurant on Bond Street in Chelmsford. It now has 21 sites in the UK.

 

The Piccolino Italian restaurant group has launched its major new Piccolino Grande venue in Wilmslow. The 220-cover site follows a £2m development. The Piccolino group now has 19 sites around the UK, mostly in northern England.

 

Competitive socialising group Flight Club opened its latest new venue in Edinburgh this week, in the St James Quarter. It is Flight Club’s 15th site in the UK, and second in Scotland after Glasgow.

 

Afrikana Kitchen is opening under franchise in Ilford, Hounslow and Hayes, local media report. The group currently has 15 sites in the UK, with openings also in the pipeline in Edinburgh, Leeds, Sheffield, Southampton and Wolverhampton.

 

Kuckoo, a rock and roll themed cocktail bar brand with four sites in the north of England, has just opened on Palmyra Square in Warrington. The other Kuckoo bars are in Chester, Knutsford, Preston and Sheffield.

 

JD Wetherspoon has submitted plans to open a large new pub called The Lion & Unicorn at London’s Waterloo station. It will be at The Sidings, Waterloo’s new retail and leisure complex.

 

Scotland’s Black Rooster peri peri chicken group is planning an opening under franchise at Discovery Point in Dundee, local media report. Black Rooster currently has 18 sites, mostly in and around Glasgow.

 

Turtle Bay says it will open its delayed new restaurant at the Northgate development in Chester in early 2024.

 

Fried chicken brand Wingers has acquired a 2,500 square feet unit in the Telford Shopping Centre. It is scheduled to launch in early 2024.

 

Tortilla launched this week on Forrest Road in Edinburgh.

 

German Doner Kebab has just opened on Union Street in Aberdeen—its 133rd location in the UK.

 

US-based chicken and kebab group The Halal Guys opened late last week at Wood Green in London. The brand launched into the UK with a restaurant on Earl’s Court Road earlier this year.
