The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Indian street food style restaurant brand Mowgli has signed a lease to open on Nelson Street in Newcastle. It has taken a 3,800 square feet unit over three floors that is part of a refurbishment of a Grade II listed property on the street. The restaurant is due to open in the summer.

 

Steakhouse group Flat Iron has announced plans to open a new restaurant on Hammersmith Broadway soon. It is also lining up a launch in Victoria. Flat Iron currently has 12 sites in London and one in Cambridge and Leeds.

 

The Breakfast Club has announced an opening on Old Compton Street shortly, in a unit previously occupied by Patty & Bun. It will be the brand’s third opening in Soho, after Berwick Street and D’Arbly Street. Other openings in the pipeline for The Breakfast Club include St Pancras.

 

Italian restaurant group Prezzo is planning a new spin-off on-the-go operation called Prezzo Pronto, according to the Telegraph. It would use the concept in train stations.

 

Thai brand Giggling Squid has confirmed an opening on Muswell Hill Road in London towards the middle of 2024, in a unit previously occupied by Bill’s. It was originally due to launch in mid-2023.

 

Italian restaurant and deli group Lina Stores is preparing to open on Exhibition Road in South Kensington in the Spring. It will be a seventh London location for the brand.

 

The Ivy restaurant group will open at Donegall Place in Belfast later this year—its first location in Northern Ireland.

 

Asian noodle bar group Chopstix has opened at the Festival Place retail and leisure destination in Basingstoke in Hampshire. It has taken on a 2,500 square feet unit. Another operator at Festival Place, Festival Street Kitchen, has meanwhile moved to a new 4,500 square feet unit at the centre.

 

Little Caesars Pizza has launched a second location in Top Valley near Nottingham. It plans three more openings this year, including in London and Liverpool.

 

Netherlands-based American-style burger group Fat Phill’s has signed a franchise agreement with Freshly Baked to open restaurants in the UK. It has ambitions to open around 100 sites, starting on high streets in Greater London.

 

A new pan-Asian restaurant concept called YiQi has opened on Lisle Street in London’s Chinatown.

 

The old Victoria Family and Commercial Hotel on Great George Street in Leeds has been jointly acquired by the Kirkstall Brewery and Whitelock’s. The venue will relaunch in September.

 

US brand Randy’s Donuts has announced plans to launch in the UK. It is looking for franchise partners to roll out the brand.

 

Donut specialist Project D has just launched at Heathrow’s Terminal 2. It is a fourth location for the brand, after Nottingham, Sheffield and York.
