Food market operator The Spread is to launch at Hawley Wharf Camden. It will have 4,000 square feet of space at the scheme, hosting more than 40 independent traders. The Spread has operated food markets in London for around five years, in locations including Finchley, Hackney, Southbank, White City and Camden itself.
US brand Slim Chickens has submitted plans to open at the Metrocentre in Gateshead. It would be the first restaurant in the north east for Slim Chickens, which is rolling out rapidly in the UK.
TGI Fridays has been given a licence to open a new restaurant and bar under its new 63rd+1st brand in Harrogate. The brand’s first site is in Cobham, and earlier this year it secured another site in Glasgow.
Pieology, a California-based pizza restaurant concept, is moving into the UK under a franchise deal. The first site will be in London, though the exact location is yet to be disclosed. Pieology currently has around 130 restaurants around the world.
Five Guys is opening a restaurant in The Centre in West Lothian, local media report. It is taking over a unit last occupied by ASK Italian.
Honest Burgers is running a pop-up operation at the Laine Pub Company’s Fortune of War pub on the seafront in Brighton. It will be there until the end of the summer.
Thai brand Giggling Squid is opening in Welwyn Garden City towards the end of the year, according to local media. It will be in a unit last occupied by Zizzi.
Pizza Punks is opening a fourth restaurant on Bond Street in Leeds shortly. It will join sites in Belfast, Glasgow and Newcastle.
Birmingham-based burger restaurant Burger & Sauce is moving into the city’s Link Street for its fourth location. It has signed for a 1,200 square feet unit on the street, which connects Birmingham’s Bullring and Grand Central, and will open before the end of July. Burger & Sauce currently has restaurants in Alum Rock and Castle Vale in Birmingham, and in Battersea. Another new opening, in Kings Heath, is coming soon.
Pizza restaurant group Proove has opened in Hertford. The chain launched in 2015 and also has two restaurants in Sheffield and one in West Didsbury.
The Gentleman Baristas coffeeshop brand is opening on Henrietta Street in Covent Garden. It is also lining up a site in Bruton Place in Mayfair.
Italian wine bar and restaurant concept Veeno will open in Reigate next Thursday (15 July). Another new opening is being prepared in Banbury. Veeno’s other locations are Bristol, Chester, Edinburgh, Leeds, Leicester, Reading and Stratford.
Australia-based Mexican brand Zambrero has just opened its first UK restaurant, on Kentish Town Road in London. The brand was founded in 2005 and now has 200 franchised sites around the world, including in Ireland, the US and New Zealand.
Burger brand Fat Hippo is opening another concession restaurant with Lane7 in St James Quarter in Edinburgh. It follows joint sites in Manchester and Sheffield, along with five standalone restaurants in Durham, Jesmond, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle and Nottingham.
Delicious Pho, a Canada-based brand specializing in Vietnamese street food, is launching its first UK site on Steward Street in London’s Spitalfields in August. Delicious Pho was founded in Canada in 2003 and now has 12 restaurants there.
