New Openings Round-Up 8 October

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

MEATliquor has just opened its biggest restaurant yet, on Old Town in Clapham. It has 170 covers inside and 130 outside, plus two bars.

 

Honest Burgers has submitted plans to open a restaurant on Cheap Street in Bath, local media report.

 

The Hart Brothers’ group is opening branches of its Barrafina tapas bar and Parrillan restaurant at the Borough Yards retail and leisure development in London. The group will also launch a new Spanish wine and sherry bar there, called Bar Daskal. It is a fifth opening for Barrafina and a second for Parrillan after Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross. All the new sites will open in early 2022.

 

Las Iguanas has started recruiting for an opening at the Westquay shopping centre in Southampton by the end of the year. The brand is currently preparing another opening on the south coast, at the Barcode leisure area in Plymouth, which is scheduled for 18 October.

 

Wine bar brand Vagabond is to open its first site outside London at Colmore Row in Birmingham. The 4,000 square feet, 200-cover venue launches on 22 October, and becomes Vagabond’s tenth site in all.

 

BrewDog has secured permission to open a pub at the Milburngate development in Durham, local media report.

 

Japanese restaurant Kibou has added to sites in London’s Battersea and Cheltenham with an opening in the Clifton area of Bristol. The new restaurant has 80 covers over two floors.

 

Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant group has launched an all-day restaurant called Luciano at the ME London hotel on the Strand.

 

The Comfy Pub Co has just opened a new bar and grill restaurant concept in Birmingham. Nude Bar & Grill is in the Bennetts Hill area, and operates over four floors. Comfy Pub Co runs three other venues in the West Midlands.

 

Walthamstow vegan curry restaurant SpiceBox is opening a second site in Leytonstone in mid-October.

 

The New Era Square development in Sheffield has announced several new restaurant openings: Japanese restaurant Doki Kagoshima in November, and a Brazilian steak house called Naco in early 2022/ A bar called La Belle Vie is also opening before Christmas. Recent openings at New Era have included Scandinavian café Lykke.

 

Chinese restaurant ShaXian Delicacies has launched a second site on Gerrard Street in London’s Chinatown. The 2,850 square feet site incorporates various technology, including video projections and automated robots. The other ShaXian Delicacies restaurant is on Museum Street in London.

 

German Doner Kebab has submitted plans to open in an old retail unit on Piccadilly in York, local media report.

 

Taiwanese restaurant Din Tai Fung is opening on the fourth floor of the Selfridges store on London’s Oxford Street. It follows the success of the original restaurant in Covent Garden, with plans for another new opening at London’s Centre Point.

 

London-based Chinese restaurant group Jinli has just opened its fifth location, by Mornington Crescent on Camden High Street.
