New Openings Round-Up 18 February

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Competitive socializing brand Flight Club has signed for a new opening on St Mary Street in Cardiff. It is taking on a 16,300 square feet unit that will have 13 darts oches. The launch will become Flight Club’s tenth venue in the UK, and its largest site outside London.

 

JW Lees is opening The Aviator at the old Woodford Aerodrome site in south Manchester in the next few weeks—its first new-build pub for more than ten years. It will also shortly reopen several pubs after renovations.

 

The Ivy Collection will open a branch of its Ivy Asia concept in Glasgow in the summer, local media report. It will be a fourth location for the concept, and will be situated adjacent to The Ivy brasserie on Vicar Lane in Leeds. The Ivy group has also submitted plans for a new opening in Belfast.

 

Mission Mars’ pizza restaurant brand Rudy’s will open a third site in Manchester, local media report. It will be in an old retail unit on Portland Street, joining locations in Ancoats and on Peter Street in the city. Rudy’s also has restaurants in Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Sale and Stockton Heath.

 

Mexican brand Benito’s opens in Hinckley in Leicestershire next week. It will be the fourth site for the brand, after Covent Garden and Oxford Circus in London and the Oxford Westgate centre.

 

Mother Clucker, the fried chicken brand now run by the Famously Proper group, will open its first permanent restaurant on Upper Street in London in April. Mother Clucker started out as a mobile venture, and is now a strong delivery and meal kit operator in partnership with Deliveroo. More bricks and mortar sites are planned in the coming months.

 

Fuller’s will relaunch its Fine Line pub at Bow Churchyard in the City as The Saint. It is scheduled to reopen in April.

 

Emilia’s Crafted Pasta has just soft launched its third restaurant in the new Wood Wharf development at Canary Wharf. It will have 70 covers inside and another 30 outside. The other two Emilia’s Crafted Pasta restaurants are at St Katharine’s Docks and Aldgate.

 

Tapas and charcuterie brand Salt Yard and kebab restaurant Bababoom are both opening sites at Westfield London in the next few weeks. It is a second location for Bababoom after Battersea. Westfield has also announced an opening at its Stratford retail centre for Sixes, the social cricket concept that already has four operations in Fitzrovia, Fulham, Birmingham and Manchester, and Indian street food specialist Ghara.

 

Maray, the Middle Eastern style restaurant concept based in Liverpool, will open a restaurant in Manchester in the summer. It has taken a unit on Brazennose Street in the city, and becomes the fourth Maray in total, after launching three sites in Liverpool.

 

Australian-style coffeeshop concept Urban Baristas will open its eighth location on Harington Road in South Kensington in April. The brand is also planning to launch a new roastery and café in London Dock soon.

 

Fast-growing ten-pin bowling, bar and restaurant concept Lane7 will open at the Walkergate Leisure Park in Durham later in the year. Lane7 currently has 11 sites, with more lined up for cities including Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast, Cardiff, York and Nottingham.

 

The Indians Next Door, an Indian and Kenyan crossover concept that has been popular at various markets around London, has just opened its first permanent site on Lamb Street in Spitalfields.
