New Openings Round-Up 17 September

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

US-based chicken wing chain Wingstop has just opened its first restaurant in the Midlands, at Birmingham’s Bullring. The 2,570 square feet restaurant has 120 covers. Also recently opened at the Bullring is Burger & Sauce, which has taken a 1,200 square feet site. Burger & Sauce has three other sites in Birmingham, plus one in London.

 

Loungers opened its 180th location this week: the Claro Lounge in Ripon. It has also just opened a Cosy Club in Chelmsford, with several more sites following by the end of the year.

 

Italian pasta chain Miscusi is launching into the UK with a restaurant in the Yards in Covent Garden. Miscusi launched four years ago and now has 12 restaurants in seven Italian cities.

 

Beavertown Town Brewery has just launched its first pub: the Corner Pin in Tottenham in London. It has three floors and a beer garden.

 

US-style fried chicken restaurant Butchies and Japanese ramen concept Kanada-Ya have both agreed new openings at the leisure quarter of the Ealing Filmworks development in west London by the end of the year. Butchies’ opening joins sites in Victoria, Earls Court, Camden, Clapham, Oxford Street, Shoreditch and Fulham, while for Kanada-Ya it follows sites in Soho, Angel and Covent Garden.

 

The Ivy Collection has submitted plans to open a new restaurant on East Street in Chichester, local media report. It wants to take on an old retail unit there.

 

Italian pasta concept La Nonna is opening a 650 square feet restaurant on Market Row in Brixton in late September. It is a third location for the brand, after Flat Iron Square and Box Park Shoreditch.

 

Five Guys has secured two more new openings, both on former Gourmet Burger Kitchen sites: at the Heart shopping centre in Walton-on-Thames, and the designer outlet in York.

 

The Fulham Shore group says it plans to open ten new sites before the end of its financial year. In a trading statement it said it was fitting out two new Franco Manca sites in Blackheath and Baker Street in London, with 15 in solicitors’ hands for that brand and The Real Greek.

 

The Xscape leisure park in Milton Keynes will host two new openings in October: Turkish grill restaurant Sumac and American diner and sports bar concept Wing Kingz.

 

Pop-up Italian concept Manteca is setting up a first permanent site in Shoreditch, in a unit previously occupied by PizzaExpress. Manteca has occupied in residencies around London since 2019.

 

The team behind Birmingham venues Aluna and Siamais have opened a new Chinese restaurant and bar concept in the former Carluccio’s unit at Brindleyplace in the city. It is called Lulu Wild.

 

Roastery and coffee shop brand Bean is opening at the Liverpool ONE development. It has signed for a 3,000 square feet space on South John Street there. Bean is based in Liverpool and has 12 sites in the city and elsewhere around the north west.

 

The Conduit community has opened its six-floor members space on Langley Street in Covent Garden. A 2,000 square feet public-facing restaurant will open in October, while a rooftop terrace with various food and drink options follows in Spring 2022.
