New Openings Round-Up 16 July

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Five Guys has signed a lease for a 3,500 square feet ground-floor unit at 186-190 Bishopsgate in the City. The deal was brokered by Shelley Sandzer, who earlier this year helped Five Guys secure a 2,900 square feet site at The Scene in Walthamstow. 

 

BrewDog has just opened its 15th London bar, on Plough Place off New Fetter Lane near Holborn Circus. It has 30 taps of draught beer and an all-day food menu. 

 

Hickory’s Smokehouse opens in Wilmslow in Cheshire on Monday (19 July). It becomes the 12th Hickory’s restaurant.  

 

Turtle Bay has set 14 August for the opening of its latest new restaurant at Cathedral Lanes in Coventry. 

 

Steak restaurant Flat Iron is opening in London’s Borough Market. It will be a ninth location for the brand. 

 

Hawaiian concept Honi Poke has announced plans for four new restaurants in London before the end of the year: in Victoria, Southbank, St Paul’s and Bishopsgate. Honi Poke now has ten locations, having recently opened in Fulham and Westfield Stratford, and a delivery-only site in Manchester. It says it want to open in every major UK city by the end of 2023. 

 

The Ottolenghi deli brand has opened in Marylebone. It joins four other delis in London, in Belgravia, Islington, Notting Hill and Spitalfields. 

 

Pizza restaurant group Zia Lucia has announced another new opening on Balham High Road in August. The brand operates five other sites, in Aldgate East, Hammersmith, Islington, Wandsworth and Wembley. 

 

Wagamama has submitted plans to open in West Bridgford, according to local media. It wants to take over a site that was previously occupied by Carluccio’s.  

 

Rosa’s Thai Café opened its latest new restaurant on Baker Street this week. It has taken over an old Bella Italia restaurant there.  

 

Indian street food style brand Mowgli has identified a site in London for a new opening, according to a post by founder Nisha Katona. Mowgli’s next opening is in Cheltenham in August followed by Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Brighton and Preston in early 2022.  

 

Six By Nico has set 9 August for the opening of its largest restaurant to date, on Chancellor Passage in Canary Wharf. It will have 100 covers over 4,200 square feet of space, and a bar area with 60 more covers. It will become Six By Nico’s eighth UK restaurant, with a ninth to follow on Byres Road in Glasgow in September. 

 

Burger and barbecue concept Hubbox opens at the Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham in August. It will be the 11th restaurant for Hubbox, after Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Falmouth, Pentewan, Plymouth, Portsmouth, St Ives, Taunton and Truro. 

 

Fish-focused bistro group SeaSons is opening on Bruton Street in Mayfair shortly. It will join three other restaurants in London, in Fitzrovia, Notting Hill, Kensington and Bayswater. 

 

Fried chicken concept The Bok Shop is opening two new restaurants soon, in Source Park in Hastings and WestQuay in Southampton. The Bok Shop currently has three sites, in Brighton, Eastbourne and South Croydon. 

 

A new dog-friendly café called Love My Human Townhouse is about to open on King’s Road in London. As well as an all-day breakfast and lunch offer, it has pet services including treatments and daycare. It is a spin-off concept from the Love My Human pet retailer and grooming parlour.
