Mission Mars is planning to open a second site for its Manchester German-style bar and restaurant concept Albert’s Schloss—at One Chamberlain Square in Birmingham.

 

TGI Fridays opens its latest new restaurant on the high street in Lincoln next Wednesday (19 May). It will be part of the brand’s group of Famous at Fridays restaurants that offers a classic TGI Fridays menu.

 

The Coppa Club group will launch a major new 200-cover restaurant in the Clifton area of Bristol in mid-July. It has taken over a unit previously occupied by PizzaExpress, and will offer an all-day restaurant, bar, lounge and workspace over two floors. It will be the eighth Coppa Club site, joining venues in Brighton, Cobham, Henley-on-Thames, Maidenhead, Sonning-on-Thames, Streatley-on-Thames and Tower Bridge in London.

 

Fast-growing Thai brand Giggling Squid has signed to open a 3,800 square feet restaurant and terrace at Aquila Holdings’ Bond Street mall in Chelmsford this summer. Aquila Holdings has also signed Spritz Social, an open air bar serving craft beer, cocktails, champagne, Aperol Spritz and food via nearby operators via QR codes. The two operators join brands including Bill’s, Wagamama and Ask Italian at Bond Street.

 

Ten food and drink brands have been announced for openings at Hawley Wharf Camden, the 580,000 square feet mixed-use canal-side development from LabTech. They include Cantonese concepts Bun House and Three Uncles, Thai and Taiwanese operators Ekachai and BaoziInn, and Greek grill and dessert specialists Mikos Gyros and Stilvi. Italian grab-and-go brand A’do’re Fritto, French pastry chef Philippe Conticini, cold-pressed juice brand Juice Junkiez and Colombian coffee roaster Amar Café.

 

MEATliquor is taking over the Dartmouth Arms in Forest Hill in south east London. It will continue to operate as a pub alongside MEATliquor burgers and other food.

 

Sri Lankan street food style restaurant group The Coconut Tree will open its seventh location on Broad Street in Bath on 24 May. The Coconut Tree has two restaurants in Bristol, plus one in each of Bournemouth, Cardiff, Cheltenham and Oxford.

 

Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant group is launching a joint venture with hotel brand INNSiDE by Melia. Its first opening will be First Street Bar & Kitchen at INNSiDE’s Manchester hotel. More launches will follow this year.

 

Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant group is opening his new Street Burger concept in a unit on Kensington High Street. It will be a fourth site for the brand, after St Paul’s and Charing Cross Road in London, and Woking.

Wagamama has just opened its latest new restaurant at the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet in Cannock.

 

The Le Bab group is opening a kebab shop-style operation on Old Street in London. It will have 20 covers alongside takeaways. Le Bab already operates in Soho and Covent Garden, and has a collaboration with German Kraft Beer in Dalston.

 

Tex Mex group Tortilla is opening at Chessington World of Adventures next week, under a new partnership with Merlin Entertainments. More openings on Merlin sites could follow.

 

Korean-American fried chicken and street food concept Seoul Bird is creating a second restaurant at Jubilee Place in Canary Wharf. The original Seoul Bird launched in Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush.

 

Mercato Metropolitano will shortly open the first phase of its 17,500 square feet site at Elephant Park in London. A 3,900 square feet deli and café space will open on the western side of the space, with a ‘MM Factory’ of small restaurants and bars and a mill to follow later in the year. Mercato Metropolitano also operates in Mayfair.

 

The Albion & East group will open restaurant, bar and workspace hybrid concept Allora Hall in Crouch End next week. There are sister Hall venues in Hackney, Old Street and Brixton.

 

Four new independents have joined the line-up at KERB’s Seven Dials Market in London for its reopening on Monday 17 May. They are Filipino operator Bong Bong’s Manila Kanteen, Bad Boy Pizza Society, fish specialist BAIT and Texas barbecue concept Smoke & Bones.

 

A new coffee and wine bar concept called Where’s Fred’s is to open at The Mercer’s Company’s Frederick’s Place development near Bank in the City in the summer. It will have a day-to-night offer created by founder Chelsea Finch and based on her coffee and brunch brand District.

 

Elephant & Castle, the chicken and burger restaurant group with 11 locations in Ireland, is moving into the UK with an opening in the Frenchgate shopping centre in Doncaster.
