New Openings Round-Up 12 November

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Thai restaurant brand Busaba is opening a new on George Street in Oxford in early December. The venue, which replaces a Pint Shop on the street, will be a new izakaya-style Busaba concept, with a downstairs bar to follow in the new year. The opening follows a recent new launch in Cardiff.

 

Interactive football bar Toca Social is opening a second UK location at the Bullring centre in Birmingham. It follows the launch of the first site at London’s O2 in the summer. Toca Social will occupy 40,000 square feet of space in the old Debenhams store in the Bullring.

 

Mexican brand Benito’s has applied for a licence for a new opening on Regent Street in Hinckley. It would join sites in Oxford Circus, Covent Garden and Oxford.

 

Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen & Bar brand is opening in the Liverpool ONE development. It has taken on a 6,000 square feet, 195-cover unit on Paradise Street that was previously occupied by Jamie’s Italian and that has been empty since 2019. It is the first Bread Street opening outside of London.

 

East Coast Concepts’ neighbourhood restaurant brand Victors is opening in Newcastle. It has taken on a site in the Quayside area that was previously occupied by Las Iguanas. It will be a fourth location for the brand, after Alderley Edge, Hale and Oxford.

 

The Black and White Hospitality group has opened a concept called Mr Whites on London’s Leicester Square. The brand is fronted by Marco Pierre White and is focused on steaks and pizza. The group is planning more openings for the concept in the UK and internationally.

 

The Doner Haus brand is opening a Döner Shack in Manchester’s Arndale centre. The 2,800 square feet site in Halle Place will launch on 22 November, and becomes the second Doner Shack after its debut at Trinity Leeds. Two more launches are planned for the Highcross centre in Leicester and the Silverburn development in Glasgow before the end of the year. The parent Döner Haus brand has restaurants on West Nile Street in Glasgow and the Corn Exchange in Manchester.

 

Vegan burger brand Flower Burger is opening a second UK site on North Street in Brighton by the end of November. It will join the first UK restaurant on Charlotte Street in London. Flower Burger is expanding in the UK under franchise, and has 20 other restaurants in Italy, France and the Netherlands.

 

Australia-based café and restaurant brand Jamaica Blue has just opened its tenth UK location, on Eastgate Street in Gloucester. It joins Jamaica Blue sites in Chelmsford, Derby, Eastbourne, Gillingham, Reading, Royston, Rushden Lakes, Telford and Wednesbury.

 

Mexican fast food brand Zambrero will open its second UK site in Loughton in north London towards the end of November. It joins the debut UK site in Kentish Town. More new openings are being lined up in places including Twickenham and Chelmsford.

 

Fried chicken and waffles brand Bird is opening in Gillingham’s Hempstead Valley shopping centre shortly. It will be Bird’s first restaurant outside London, where it has sites in Camden, Canary Wharf and Islington.

 

The group behind Berber & Q and Shawarma will open a new all-day eastern Mediterranean-influenced restaurant called Carmel in Queens Park in London in late November.

 

The team behind Japan Centre has just opened a ramen restaurant nearby on London’s Panton Street, called Panton Yokocho.

 

Newcastle’s US-style Meat: Stack restaurant is opening a second location on Boar Lane in Leeds. The 1,700 square feet site is scheduled to open early next year. Meat: Stack was a street food and pop-up operator before launching a permanent restaurant in Newcastle’s Bigg Market last year.

 

China’s Zhang Liang Mala Tang restaurant group is opening a first UK site on Shaftesbury Avenue in London early next year. The concept invites guests to choose ingredients for soup and have them cooked while they wait.
