New openings round-up

Leon opened its first new restaurant of 2016 on Monday (29 February)—at Fenchurch Street station in London. It follows 11 openings last year, and becomes Leon’s 34th site in all.

TGI Friday’s will hit the milestone of 75 restaurants with opening at the Stevenage Leisure Park in mid-April. It will be a 210-cover restaurant with usual Friday’s features including a standalone bar and open kitchen.

TGI Friday’s has also been confirmed for an opening at the Brighton Marina development, with Las Iguanas and Bella Italia in negotiations for units.

Côte will open in Cirencester shortly. It is a 160-cover restaurant on Black Jack Street.

Mexican operator Barburrito has secured new sites in Edinburgh and Derby, following an opening in Hammersmith, as it pushes towards becoming a national brand. 

Joe Public, a pizza concept selling 20-inch Californian-style pizzas whole or by the slice, will open on Clapham Common on 19 March. It will open from 6.30am for breakfast until midnight.

The Tasty group’s Wildwood brand has secured permission to open in Llandudno—its first restaurant in Wales. The site will also have a small cinema. It is also planning an opening in Crawley, with a proposal now in.

YO! Sushi has applied for permission to open in Bournemouth, the town’s newspaper reports.

Casual Dining Group will turn the La Tasca restaurant in Newbury into a Bella Italia. Plans for the conversion are now in. 

Fuller’s has reopened its Pilot pub in Chiswick and the Bull in Bridport after major refurbs. 

Carluccio’s has launched its first Via store on Tottenham Court Road. It is a pared-down on-the-go version of its fully-fledged restaurants, selling coffee and Italian pastries at breakfast and pastas and salads at lunchtime, and running into the evenings too. Its strapline is ‘Real Italian to Go’.

Prezzo has applied for permission to open in Moseley.

Las Iguanas is nearing the milestone of 50 restaurants opens in the Brunswick Centre in Bloomsbury on 21 March and on Back Swinegate in York the following week.

The San Carlo group has applied to open a third Fumo site in Liverpool.

JD Wetherspoon has applied to open a pub and hotel in Dovercourt in Essex.
