One of the greats of the US restaurant scene, the legendary founder of Union Square Hospitality Danny Meyer is joining the line-up for this year’s BIG Peach 2020 Digital Experience on November 18.

Meyer will talk about the global lessons learned from the lockdown of the New York restaurant scene, the future of service and hospitality and how to inspire and care for our people.

He’ll be sharing his perspectives in conversation with both Peach 2020 chair Peter Martin and guest interviewer and co-founder of Hawksmoor Will Beckett.

It’s a real privilege to have Danny with us. He’s been an inspiration to so many restaurant entrepreneurs and a massive influence on the way the business has developed over the years,” added Peter Martin.

Meyer opened his first restaurant, Union Square Cafe in NYC in 1985, aged just 27. Other restaurants and businesses opened since then include Gramercy Tavern, Blue Smoke and Jazz Standard, as well as the Shake Shack burger brand and Union Square Events.

His groundbreaking business book, Setting the Table, examining the power of hospitality in restaurants, business, and life, was first published in 2006, and became a New York Times bestseller as well as an industry must-read.

The BIG Peach 2020 Digital Experience programme goes ‘on air’ at 1.30pm on November 18, with UK Hospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls co-hosting with Peter Martin.

Other high profile leaders and experts lined up include:

  • Minette Batters, president, National Farmers’ Union
  • Tom Bloxham MBE, founder, Urban Splash
  • Anneliese Dodds MP, Labour shadow chancellor
  • Simon Emeny, CEO, Fullers
  • John James, founder, Soho Estates

  • Suzanne Rosnowski, Relevance International, New York

Although we are online this year, we want the industry to be totally involved, so if you want to put a question to any of the speakers and panelists, including Danny, just register for the event, and email your contribution to me and we’ll be selecting the best to be answered on the day.” said Martin.

The day’s programme will culminate with the presentation of the 2020 Peach Hero & Icon Awards.
