New openings round-up

Brands including Barburrito, Carluccio’s, Be At One, Boston Tea Party Revolucion de Cuba and Chop’d are among those with new opening plans to report this week.

The Seafood Pub Company has reached the milestone of ten sites with the acquisition of the Alma Inn in Lanshawbridge in Lancashire. The company, which has just received backing from Penta Capital, will open its ninth site in Fence in Lancashire shortly.

Healthy on the go brand POD opened its latest new site on Kingsway in London last week. It is its 23rd site in all.

Healthy deli and delivery concept The Detox Kitchen launches a pop-up deli in Selfridges food hall in London today (4 August). It will run for three months, serving wheat, dairy and refined sugar-free salads, juices and smoothies. The Detox Kitchen has just received backing from Encore Capital and plans to open up to ten new sites in the next three years. Founder Lily Simpson said: “Although we’ve stocked our grab-and-go range in the store for some time now, it’s very exciting that we’ve been asked to bring a full range of salads, smoothies and baked goods to the food hall for Selfridges shoppers to enjoy.”

Barburrito will open at the Intu shopping centre in Derby in the middle of 2017, the Derby Telegraph reports. It will join a host of brands that have opened at the centre recently, including Byron, Zizzi and YO! Sushi.

Côte has had an application approved for a restaurant opening in Godalming in Surrey.

Carluccio’s has also been confirmed for the Intu centre in Derby. It has taken a 124-cover unit and should open in October. You can view their property requirement requirements here.

Turtle Bay opens in Chelmsford tomorrow (5 August). The Caribbean street food chain are seeking new nationwide locations in town & City centres. View their requirements here.

All-day operator Boston Tea Party wants to open on the Calthorpe Estate in Edgbaston, the Birmingham Post reports. It would join Boston Tea Party sites in Birmingham city centre and Harborne.

Cocktail bar group Be At One has set 16 September for the opening of its latest new bar on Victoria Street in Nottingham. It is on the site of a former bar and nightclub and will be the group’s 32nd venue.

Marston’s has submitted plans to open a new build pub near Grimsby, local media report. The development would also include a drive-through Costa Coffee.

D&D London is to reopen its Bluebird venue in Chelsea in September after a £2m refurb. It will increase the restaurant’s capacity to 248 covers. Chief executive and chairman Des Gunewardena said: “This is a major investment for us and one which I hope will reinforce Bluebird’s position as one of London’s most iconic restaurants.”

Revolution Bars Group’s Revolucion de Cuba brand will open in Harrogate in October, according to local reports. It has taken on an old nightclub site in the town and is opening after a £1m spend. The Harrogate branch is Revolucion de Cuba’s tenth bar and restaurant in all.

The Tasty group has opened a branch of its Wildwood brand in Crawley in Sussex.

Healthy on the go operator Chop’d is to open on Cross Street in Manchester, the Manchester Evening News reports. It will be the brand’s first location outside London. View their property requirements here.

Patisserie Valerie has opened in Chelmsford in Essex. It continues a partnership that has seen it launch cafes within branches of Debenhams.

Patty & Bun has opened its fifth restaurant, on Redchurch Street in Shoreditch.

Pizza Hut plans to open a restaurant in Cheltenham, local media report. It left the town four years ago but is now advertising for staff for an opening next year.

Nando’s opened at the Manor Walks retail and leisure development in Cramlington yesterday (3 August). It is a 140-cover restaurant.

Mnky Hse will open on Dover Street in late September. The ethos behind MNKY HSE is a vibrant blend of London funk with Latin spirit. It will be on the site of the old Dover Street Wine Bar, with a dining capacity of 220+.

JD Wetherspoon has put in a licensing application for a new pub in St Ives in Cambridgeshire, the Cambridge News reports. View their property requirements here.

Pizza Hut has reopened its restaurant at the Eureka leisure park in Ashford as it continues a makeover of its brand and venues. It has spent £785,000 on the project, its biggest refurb spend yet.

The Caribbean eatery Rum Kitchen have instructed a London agent to identify new property opportunities, target areas include Shoreditch, Hackney and Peckham. View their property requirements in full here.
