Craft beer champion Charlie McVeigh, the founder of the Draft House pub and bar group, is the latest high profile speaker to join the roster for this year’s CGA Peach Consumer Insight & Marketing Conference at Kings Place, London, on 6 April.

Understanding changing consumer tastes in the fast moving, and often fickle, food and drink market will be a central theme of this year’s event – as will knowing the best ways to communicate with an increasingly quality-literate public.

McVeigh will discuss how the ‘craft’ phenomenon is changing both perceptions and structure of the pub and beer market – and what it tells us about the modern consumer. He’ll also ponder if craft becomes mainstream, what next?

Other speakers on the programme include Zoe Collins, who as chief content officer is responsible for all TV, publishing and digital content created by and on behalf of at the Jamie Oliver Media Group. She will bring a broader perspective to those challenges of changing tastes, habits and media preferences of today’s experience-seeking consumer.

The theme this year’s invitation-only gathering of top marketers from across the eating and drinking market is Championing the Consumer, and McVeigh and Collins will be among a string of big name speakers addressing the challenges of staying in tune with the public in a crowded market both in and out-of-home.

The conference will examine the changing role of marketing in hospitality and leisure and what sets it apart from fmcg promotion – and how to be both customer advocate and brand guardian within organisations.

The agenda will set out the sector’s priorities for 2017, including highlighting the need for greater understanding of consumer types, with a preview of CGA’s new food and drink focused segmentation work
