How top chef Neil Rankin and his team brought a hot new project to market

Understanding how food trends are being shaped by pubs and street food as much as top end restaurants is key to knowing what excites today’s food-literate consumer.

Top chef Neil Rankin, whose new Temper restaurant is one of the hottest spots in London right now, will be sharing his experiences of working in all those environments at this year’s CGA Peach Consumer Insight & Marketing Conference in London on 6 April.

Rankin, whose CV includes Michelin-star kitchens through to Pitt Cue, Dinerama and Smokehouse pubs, will be talking about how he and his team have brought the Temper concept to market – and brought barbecue up to date.

Zoe Collins, who as chief content officer at the Jamie Oliver Media Group is responsible for all TV, publishing and digital content created by and on behalf of the group, will bring a different perspective to the challenges of changing consumer tastes and communicating with the increasingly food-literate public when she too joins the speaker line-up at this year’s event at Kings Place, next month.

The theme this year’s CGA Peach conference is Championing the Consumer, and Collins will be one of a string of high profile speakers addressing the challenges of staying in tune with the pubic and their tastes and habits in a crowded market both in and out-of-home.

The conference will examine the changing role of marketing in hospitality and leisure and what sets it apart from fmcg promotion – and how to be both customer advocate and brand guardian within organisations.

The agenda will set out the sector’s priorities for 2017, including highlighting the need for greater understanding of consumer types, with a preview of CGA’s new food and drink focused segmentation work.

Other speakers already signed up include: Charlie McVeigh, founder of Draft House; Libby Andrews, head of marketing at the Vietnamese restaurant group Pho; Andre Johnstone, head of digital and loyalty at Wagamama; and Sue Grist, founder of the Egremont International consultancy.

The event will be chaired by CGA Peach’s Peter Martin and Jamie Campbell.
