Whitbread has teed up a new Beefeater Bar + Block high street all-day restaurant concept, with the first branch to open in Birmingham next month.
The concept is intended to be a modern evolution of its core Beefeater brand, and takes many of its cues from the crop of upmarket and casual steakhouse operations to have emerged in the last few years. It will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, opening from 6.30am in the week and from 7am at weekends. The emphasis in food will be on cut-to-order steaks, and there will be a limited range of ‘Butcher’s Block’ steaks. Design features include an open kitchen, central bar and butcher’s block style host desk.
The Birmingham restaurant is a 3,000 square feet and 173-cover site on Waterloo Street, with design by the city-based agency LIFE. It will launch on 7 March.
Whitbread’s chief operating officer for brand developments David Murdin said: “Launching Beefeater Bar + Block in Birmingham is not only exciting for us but a fantastic opportunity for people to experience the quality of our food in a unique, edgier and more contemporary environment. We’ve taken the very best of Beefeater’s values and reinterpreted them to appeal to a younger crowd, right in the heart of a busy city centre location.”
