New Openings Roundup 19th April

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Shake Shack is to open a restaurant by Notting Hill Gate station in London later this year. It will be the brand’s 17th location in the UK, with another in the pipeline at St Pancras station. 

 

The Bistrot Pierre group is launching a spin-off concept called Pierre’s at Friars Walk in Newport in early May. It will be an all-day operation and is the group’s first opening for two years. 

 

Shaftesbury Capital has announced several new hospitality openings in Soho. They include two for Kingly Street: a fifth location for the Little Door & Co group called The Little Violet Door; and a second site for Notting Hill-based Aegean restaurantThe Counter.

 

Noodle bar concept Liu Xiaomian has opened a first permanent location on thefirst floor of Kingly Court, and modern Filipino sharing plates restaurant Donia has also been launched at the Court by the Maginhawa Group, which also runs several other sites in London including the nearby Ramo Ramen and Mamasons. 

 

The Incipio Group is to open several new restaurants and bars at the Olympia redevelopment in west London. It will operate across nearly 40,000 square feet space from next summer.

 

Sticks n Sushi has set 5 May for its latest launch in Richmond—its 13th location in the UK. 

 

Loungers plans to open one of its largest sites so far in Bristol, the city where it launched. It is in negotiations to open a Lounge on Canon’s Road at the Harbourside, in a site that was previously occupied by Pitcher & Piano. Loungers says it has opened eight new sites in the first quarter of 2024, in Bracknell, Bromsgrove, Chepstow, Ilkley, Macclesfield, Sidcup, Westwood Cross and Yeovil. 

 

Wagamama and Zizzi will both open at Chatham Dockside in Medway shortly, local media report. Wagamama will launch on 13 May with Zizzi to follow next door on 27 May. 

 

Fried chicken restaurant brand Butchies is to launch on Tooley Street by London Bridge later this year—a seventh location for the group. 

 

Leon has just opened at the Sedgemoor service station off the M5 in Somerset, under its partnership with Roadchef. 

 

Vegan restaurant group Mildreds will open its sixth location on Wilton Road in Victoria in early May. It has taken on a unit that was previously occupied by Le Pain Quotidien. 

 

Popeyes opened on Union Street in Aberdeen this week. It has also lined up an opening in Belfast, its first in Northern Ireland. 

 

Five Guys will open a new restaurant at the Trinity Leeds centre shortly, local media report. 

 

The SSP group has launched its first franchised drive-through restaurant for Burger King near Stansted airport in Essex.  

 

The Brindisa group plans to open a second location of its Kroketa bar and restaurant brand at St Christopher’s Place in London. The original Kroketa is on Beak Street in Soho.

 

The Hunky Dory group opened a modern Chinese restaurant called Zhima on St Vincent Place in Glasgow this week. The group also runs several other concepts in Scotland, including Mexican brand Topolamamba. 

 

South Indian restaurant group Dosa Park opened on Sheep Street in Cirencester this week. It is a third site for the brand, after Botley and Kidlington in Oxfordshire, with another site to follow in Witney.
