New Openings Roundup 7th March

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

The Restaurant Group has opened a new concept at Luton Airport. The Sanfords American Diner & Loft Bar has 480 covers and a 12,810 square feet footprint. It is TRG’s biggest concession so far, and becomes the largest airport bar and restaurant in the UK. 

 

Chophouse group Blacklock is opening its first site in Birmingham in the Autumn. It will be situated at St Philip’s Place. Blacklock currently has five restaurants in London and one in Manchester. 

 

Burger restaurant brand Bleeckeris opening on Baker Street in London in April. It will be a seventh location after Bloomberg Arcade, Covent Garden, London Bridge, Spitalfields, Victoria and Westfield.

 

TheBig Mamma restaurant group is to launch a trattoria at St Michael’s Arcade in Manchester—its first location in the north of England. It will be called Circolo Popolare—a brand that it also operates in London—and have 280 covers over two floors. It is scheduled to open its doors in June. 

 

Nando’s is opening at the Crystal Peaks development in Sheffield, local media report. It is taking on a unit that was previously occupied by Pizza Hut. 

 

London’s Remarkable Pubs group has just opened its 17th site—The European on Lea Bridge Road in Leyton.

 

Gail’s has announced its first airport opening at the South Terminal at Gatwick. It is scheduled to open in June.  

 

The Adventure Leisure group’s competitive socialising brand Mulligans is launching in Guildford in the Summer, local media report. It will have a bar and restaurant alongside crazy golf and other games. There are currently 13 Mulligans sites in the UK. 

 

JD Wetherspoon will open a new pub near Fulham Broadway in the Summer. It will be called the Walham Green.  

 

Golf, restaurant and bar brand Pitch has opened a 15,000 square feet flagship venue on Churchill Place in Canary Wharf. It is a third site in London after the City and Soho, and there are plans for further openings in Manchester and Birmingham later this year.  

 

Indian restaurant group Kricket has just opened on Charlotte Road in Shoreditch—its fourth location after Brixton, Canary Wharf and Soho. 

 

South Shields fish and chip shop brand Colmans is about to open a third site within the Fenwick store in Newcastle, local media report. 

 

Bristol restaurant and café Taste of Napoli has just opened a second site in the city, on Park Street. 

 

Bowling, bar and US-style restaurant group Hollywood Bowl will launch at The Chimes retail and leisure development in Uxbridge in June. It follows a £4.2m spend on the venue. 

 

The Whole Foods brand is to launch on Kings Road in Chelsea in late March—its sixth location and first new one in ten years. 

 

Bowling brand King Pins will launch a 21,000 square feet site at the Silverburn centre in Glasgow in the Summer—its first location in Scotland. King Pins, which is run by the Professionals at Play group, has two sites in Manchester and one in Bristol, with more to follow soon in Leeds and Belfast.
