New Openings Roundup 6th September

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

The Zaap Thai group will open at the Riverwalk in Durham at the end of September, local media report. It will be the seventh restaurant for the brand, joining Nottingham, Newcastle, Sheffield, York and two in Leeds.

 

Cahoots, the 1940s-style bar concept developed by the Inception Group, will launch at the Borough Yard development in mid-October. It will be an immersive venue themed around an old post office and is the second Cahoots, which first launched in Soho.

 

Restaurant group Lussmanns has just opened a 130-cover venue in Highgate—its first London opening in more than 20 years. The group currently has sites in south east England.

 

The Big Mamma restaurant group has confirmed plans for its first opening outside London—at Chamberlain Square in Birmingham, in a unit previously occupied by Vinoteca. La Ballezza will have 150 covers and is scheduled to open towards the end of the year.

 

Nando’s opened the Woodside Leisure Park in Watford last week, in a unit previously occupied by Chiquito.

 

Wagamama has confirmed plans for an opening at the Springs retail and leisure park in Leeds in October. The 120-cover restaurant will be Wagamama’s tenth new opening of the year.

 

A new Thai-style fried chicken concept called Dang’s launched this week in London’s Spitalfields. It has been developed by Saiphin Moore, co-founder of Rosa’s Thai and Slurp Noodles. Dang’s is on Commercial Street in Spitalfields, underneath one of the three branches of Slurp’s Noodles.

 

Chop restaurant Blacklock has set 27 September for the opening of its new restaurant at the Freetrade Exchange building on Peter Street in Manchester. It is Blacklock’s first site outside London, where it has five restaurants.

 

The Taiwanese BAO group is opening at Bloomberg Arcade in the City of London towards the end of September. It will be a seventh site for the brand, after Battersea, Borough, Marylebone, King’s Cross, Shoreditch and Soho, and will have private karaoke rooms as well as a main restaurant.

 

Scotland-based hospitality group Buzzworks is launching a new site for Lido, its all-day restaurant, bar and café concept. It will be situated in the Musselburgh area of Edinburgh. Buzzworks currently runs 20 sites around Scotland, including branches of Lido in Prestwick and Troon.

 

Ireland-based pizza group Sano Pizza has just opened a second site in Britain, in the Merchant City area of Glasgow. Sano has another site in Glasgow and three in Dublin and Cork.

 

JD Wetherspoon has set 24 September for the opening of its new pub in Marlow in Buckinghamshire, called The Grand Assembly.

 

Lina Stores has confirmed plans for a new restaurant and deli on Quay Street in Manchester. It will launch in Spring 2025, becoming the brand’s first location outside London, where it has seven sites.

 

Wendy’s will open its latest new restaurant at Tallys End development in Barlborough near Chesterfield next week, local media report.

 

Scotland-based Japanese restaurant group Okome will open in Bearsden near Glasgow towards the end of the year, local media report.

 

Boxpark has confirmed the line-up for its new 12,000 square feet venue at Buck Street Market in Camden. It will have around 60 food, drink and retail traders over three floors, plus two bars, and is due to launch in late September.
