The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Italian brand Zia Lucia has signed a lease for a unit in Reading—its first opening outside London. The 1,200 square feet restaurant was previously occupied by Ask Italian. Zia Lucia plans to open up to ten new restaurants over the next three years, many of them outside London.

 

BrewDog has submitted plans to open two more pubs in travel hubs in partnership with the SSP group. They will be at Edinburgh Waverley and London Waterloo train stations. The plans follow BrewDog’s opening with SSP at Gatwick airport last year.

 

Loungers has submitted plans for a new opening at the Vangarde shopping centre in York, local media report.

 

Filipino street food operator Filishack has signed for an opening at Lendlease’s Elephant Park development. It is a second permanent location for the brand, which started as a mobile operation in 2014 and opened a first bricks-and-mortar site in Peckham in 2021.

 

Pan-Asian group Banana Tree is recruiting for an opening at Salford Quays. It currently has 18 sites, following recent launches in Bath, Birmingham, Greenwich, Haywards Heath, Henley, Reigate and Windsor.

 

My Thai has had plans approved for a new opening in West Didsbury—a third location for the brand in the Manchester area.

 

Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant group will open a new 200-cover restaurant and bar at the INNSiDe hotel in Manchester in February. The group has three more launches in the pipeline for 2024.

 

Rio Brazilian Steakhouse is launching in Sunderland in May, local media report. It will join Rio restaurants in Chester, Durham, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Warrington and York.

 

Saloon bar concept Coyote Ugly will open on the Harbourside in Bristol in mid-February, local media report. It will be a seventh location for the brand, after two in London and one in Birmingham, Cardiff, Liverpool and Swansea.

 

Dorset-based Thai brand Nusara will open in Westbourne near Bournemouth in March, in a unit previously occupied by Café Rouge. It will be Nusara’s fourth branch after Christchurch, Poole and Wimborne.

 

Scandinavian café concept Fika is opening on Dalston Lane—its first location in London and fourth in total.

 

Korean brand Bunsik opened just before Christmas at the Westfield Stratford shopping centre. It is a fifth site for the brand, after Camden, Embankment and Leicester Square in London, and Manchester.

 

Filipino street food brand Filishack is about to launch a second site at the Elephant Park development. Filishack started as a food truck concept before opening a permanent location in Peckham.

 

North east based Mexican restaurant brand Lobo Rojo is opening a fourth site in Whitley Bay. It joins locations in North Shields, Sandyford and Tynemouth.

 

Burger concept Patty & Bun is launching its first international location this year, in Dubai.
