Mitchells & Butlers’ Italian restaurant brand Pesto is opening in Walton near Warrington, after acquiring the Walton Arms pub. Pesto currently has 11 sites around England.
Food hall group Market Place is to launch in Manchester in early 2027. It has acquired a large old department store on Market Street and will host 14 traders across 14,200 square feet of space. It will be Market Place’s first site outside London, where it currently has four halls. Another is due to follow on Baker Street in the capital.
The Daisy Green group is opening soon in Clapham Old Town. It will be the group’s 19th location.
The Bloomsbury Leisure group has just opened a new pub called The Standard on The Strand in central London. It is the group’s 15th location and specialises in Czech lager.
Shaftesbury Capital has announced that Italian restaurant and bar brand Harry’s is opening a flagship site on Russell Street in Covent Garden this winter. The 3,100 square feet venue will include a large terrace on Covent Garden’s Piazza. It will be a fifth site for Harry’s, after Knightsbridge, King’s Cross, Marylebone and Victoria.
Popeye’s has opened at Birmingham Airport in association with the SSP group. It is the brand’s first airport location.
Nando’s opened its latest new restaurant on King Street in Maidenhead this week. It is a 124-cover unit.
Yorkshire-based Italian restaurant group Pranzo is to open a fourth restaurant on Church Street in York in mid-July, local media report. The first three Pranzo restaurants are in Harrogate, Ilkley and Horsforth.
Jamaya, a Jamaican concept with restaurants in Birmingham and Solihull, is opening on the high street in Watford, local media report. It has taken over a unit previously run by Cote. Jamaya also has a Bristol opening in the pipeline.
Taco restaurant and bar brand Madre is opening soon on Wellington Place in Leeds—a third site after Manchester and Liverpool. It will also have a sister bar called Salon Madre.
Notto, a London pasta bar with sites in Piccadilly and Covent Garden, is to open a third location at the 1 Broadgate development in the City later this year.
Sushi and bento brand Wasabi is about to open its first franchise site at London Luton airport with the Lagardere group. It will also be the first Wasabi to have a breakfast offer.
The Restaurant Group’s Concessions division has just opened a new Italian restaurant and bar concept called Primo Volo at Glasgow Airport.
Umi Sushi is opening on Shandwick Place in Edinburgh, in a unit previously occupied by Barburrito.
Bowling and bar brand Bowl Central has just opened in Reading. It is a third location after Bournemouth and Fareham.
US brand Wendy’s has announced an opening on Above Bar Street in Southampton on 10 July. The brand has also just launched on St Sampson Square in York.
Hoggins, an Irish pub concept in Liverpool run by the Circle and Hen group, is about to open a second site in the city, on Seel Street.
