Dishoom has confirmed plans to open a new restaurant in Leeds. It has submitted plans to create an 8,000 square feet site over two floors on Vicar Lane in the city, between Victoria Gate and Victoria Quarter. Dishoom currently has seven restaurants in London and one in each of Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester, with another to follow on Nelson Mandela Place in Glasgow in the summer. Dishoom also has Permit Rooms in Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford, with a new one—and first in London—to open in Notting Hill on 9 May.
JD Wetherspoon has announced a new pub for Merchant Square in Paddington, in a unit previously occupied by Temper restaurant. It is due to open towards the end of the Summer.
The San Carlo restaurant group has opened a new branch of its small plates concept Cicchetti on St James in London’s Piccadilly. It is a 7,500 square feet site over two floors.
Leeds-based brewer Northern Monk is opening in York, local media report. It has acquired a site on Little Stonegate in the city. It will be a fourth bar for Northern Monk, which operates a site in Manchester as well as two in Leeds.
Restaurant group The Ivy Collection group of restaurants is opening in an old retail unit on Bridlesmith Gate in Nottingham, local media report.
Harry’s, the Italian restaurant brand owned by the Ivy Collection, is opening on King’s Boulevard by King’s Cross station in London on 3 June, after acquiring the unit previously occupied by Vinoteca. Harry’s currently has sites in Knightsbridge, Marylebone and Victoria.
Steak restaurant group The Cut & Craft has just opened on Mosley Street in Manchester—its third site after Beverley and York.
Market Place will open its major new food hall in London’s St Paul’s in late May. It will have nine food traders and two bars. St Paul’s becomes Market Place’s fourth hall, after Harrow, Peckham and Vauxhall, with two more to come on Baker Street and in Manchester.
Ludo Sports Bar & Kitchen is opening a large new venue on St Mary Street in Cardiff in August. It will have space for 740 people and is in a unit that is currently occupied by The Alchemist. Ludo is a joint venture between the ETM group and St Austell Brewery and currently has bars in Bath and Exeter.
Indian vegan restaurant group Namaste Village has announced an opening on New Road in Oxford. It will be a seventh site after Cambridge, Islington, Southend, Twickenham and two in Norwich. An eighth is following in Birmingham.
ADOH!, a new Sri Lankan street food concept from the founders of Kolamba in Soho, will open an 80-cover restaurant on Maiden Lane in London’s Covent Garden this Summer.
Thai street food style restaurant Zaap Thai is to open a 160-cover unit on Brazennose Street in Manchester in June. It will be Zaap’s eighth location.
Seafood pub and restaurant operator Sankey’s is opening in Speldhurst in Kent. It will be a third site for the group.
The Public House Group is opening a two-floor pub on Blandford Street in Marylebone—its fourth location in London. The name and opening date are yet to be confirmed.
The Laine Pub Company is opening in Croydon after acquiring The Dog and Bull pub. It will reopen as The Dog on 16 May.
All-you-can-eat buffet brand Umami World Kitchen has submitted plans to open at the Highcross shopping centre in Leicester. Umami currently operates in Blackpool and Telford and has a pipeline of openings that also includes Colchester, Newcastle, Peterborough and Swansea.
You Me Sushi has just opened in Brixton in London. The brand now has 25 branches in the UK.
