The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

The Red Engine group opened its Electric Shuffle competitive socialising venue on Manchester’s Deansgate late last week. It is the group’s second location in the city, joining Flight Club, and a fourth Electric Shuffle after Leeds, Canary Wharf and London Bridge.

 

Loungers has set 15 July for the opening of its latest new Cosy Club bar and restaurant, on Holly Street in central Sheffield. It has taken on a unit there that was previously occupied by Pitcher & Piano.

 

US brand Slim Chickens has signed for an opening at Festival Place in Basingstoke as it continues a rollout across the UK under the direction of the Boparan Restaurant Group. It will launch in mid-July, in a 3,500 square feet unit with room for around 85 people.

 

Rudy’s, the pizza brand operated by the Mission Mars group, has submitted plans for an opening on Grey Street in Newcastle, local media report. Rudy’s currently has 25 sites in the UK, with two more new branches coming soon in York and Altrincham.

 

Thai brand Giggling Squid is nearing an opening in an old retail unit on Lendal in York, local media report. Next week it will launch its 50th restaurant, in London’s Muswell Hill.

 

The Ivy group has begun work on a new restaurant on Donegall Place in Belfast. It will incorporate an Ivy Brasserie and Ivy Asia, and is scheduled to launch towards the end of the year.

 

Bristol’s Left Handed Giant brewery has opened a seventh venue in the city—a diner called Hotplate in the Stokes Croft area.

 

A new food hall called Dalston Yard is launching on Hartwell Street in Dalston in east London in July. It will be home to pop-ups as well as permanent restaurants and bars and events space.

 

US brand Popeyes has announced plans for 15 more new openings before the end of the year. Confirmed locations include Aberdeen, Belfast, Braehead, Dartford, Luton, Manchester, Merry Hill, Nottingham, Walworth, Watford and Wimbledon. Popeyes has just reached the milestone of 50 UK restaurants with an opening in Glasgow.

 

The EG group’s New York-style pizza brand Sbarro launched a new drive-through pizzeria in Cleckheaton this week. It is Sbarro’s 16th UK location, and the group says it is the country’s first drive-through dedicated to pizza.

 

Anglian Country Inns has just opened its tenth pub—the White Horse in Holme-next-the-Sea in Norfolk.

 

London-based on-the-go salad brand Urban Greens is about to open on Copthall Avenue in the City. It will be a fifth location for the group, after Canary Wharf, Kensington, St James’s Park and St Paul’s.

 

Boutique bakery Donutelier will launch at Shaftesbury Capital’s Carnaby Street in the next few months. It has taken a 1,300 square feet unit at the gateway into Kingly Court. The opening is a second for Donutelier after Charing Cross Road.

 

Hong Kong-based Honeymoon Dessert has opened its first UK site on Shaftesbury Avenue in London. The deal for the 1,300 square feet site was brokered by Savills. Honeymoon Dessert has around 400 locations in Hong Kong and China, plus two in Canada.

 

On-the-go noodle brand Chopstix has opened at the Eastgate centre in Basildon in Essex. Chopstix has also just launched two more sites at Haven holiday parks—at Devon Cliffs in Exmouth and Hafan y Mor in Gwynedd.
