JD Wetherspoon is to open a pub at the new Terminal 2 in Manchester Airport. It joins a list of brands signed up to the development, including Greggs, Starbucks and Fever-Tree, which will run a cocktail bar. Terminal 2 will also have a 470-seat Great Northern Market with rotating operators.
US brand Chick-fil-A has announced its first locations as it begins a roll-out in the UK. It will launch in London, Leeds, Liverpool and Belfast early next year, though the exact locations are yet to be confirmed. Chick-fil-A is investing around £70m in its UK plans.
Young’s will shortly open its latest new pub, The Teller’s Arms on Castle Street in Farnham in Surrey. It follows the conversion of an old bank unit. The pub has 168 covers and nine bedrooms.
Arc Inspirations will open the latest branch of its Manahatta US-style bar concept on Rose Street in Edinburgh in late October. It is the group’s first location in Scotland.
Urban Fresh Burges & Fries, a group with restaurants in Barnsley, Doncaster, Leeds and Rotherham, will open on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield in November—its first franchised site.
Union Inns, a pub company with sites in Wigan and Gateshead, has just opened a third operation after acquiring and refurbishing the Woodman pub on New Canal Street in Birmingham.
Competitive socialising brand Superbowl UK and a new concept called Hans Buffet will both open at the Festival Place development in Basingstoke next summer. Superbowl UK currently has 13 sites around the UK, with two more to come in Aldershot and Wolverhampton.
Japanese brand Kokoro has submitted an application to open on Queen Street in Salisbury, local media report.
Tortilla has just opened in the departures lounge at Glasgow Airport. It is a third airport site for the brand under a partnership with the SSP group, after Gatwick and Bristol.
Zazu’s Pubs, a group with five venues in and around Bristol, opened this week in Hanham, in a pub called The Jolly Sailor that was previously occupied by JD Wetherspoon.
Mexican brand Benito’s will open in mid-October at the Skelton Lake services near Leeds—its first service station venue and first opening in Yorkshire. It has taken over a unit previously run by Tortilla.
Atomeca, a European-style bar and restaurant concept on Deansgate Square in Manchester, will shortly open a second location in the city, on The Avenue in Spinningfields.
Scotland-based restaurant group Scoop is launching a basement bar and restaurant called Sebb’s on Miller Street in Glasgow in November. It will be based underneath Scoop’s Mango restaurant.
Delamina, a London-based eastern Mediterranean restaurant group with sites in Marylebone and Shoreditch, has announced plans for a third location on Tavistock Street in late October.
