The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Wine bar group Vagabond is opening a new flagship site at Paternoster Square in London’s St Paul’s. It will have capacity for around 250 people. It is Vagabond’s first new opening since its acquisition by Majestic last year. Vagabond currently has eight bars in London and one in Birmingham, and has another opening lined up at the Broadgate Campus development in September. 

 

Hickory’s Smokehouse has opened in Beighton near Sheffield. It is a relaunch of a site that was previously run as a pub by Hickory’s parent group, Greene King. Hickory’s now has 31 restaurants around England. 

 

Ramen group Ippudo has just launched on Essex Road in Islington. Is it a fifth site for the brand, after Central Saint Giles, Canary Wharf, Goodge Street and Villiers Street.

 

JD Wetherspoon has submitted plans to open a pub at the Whiteley shopping centre near Fareham in Hampshire, local media report.   

 

Sheffield-based brewer Two Thirds Beer Co opened the Kapital beer hall and restaurant on the city’s Wellington Street this week. It is a European-style beer hall concept covering 4,500 square feet site over two floors and is Two Thirds’ second location. 

 

Individual Restaurants’ Italian brand Piccolino is opening soon at the Hilton London Tower Bridge. It will be its first restaurant within a hotel. 

 

PizzaExpress has just opened its latest new restaurant on Riverside Walk in Kingston-upon-Thames. 

 

African-Caribbean restaurant group Manjaros is opening in the Municipal Golf Centre in Middlesbrough, local media report. 

 

Hall & Woodhouse has opened a new 12,500 square feet pub at The Quay in Poole in Dorset. It is an experience-led pub with games including shuffleboard, table football and darts. 

 

Soho’s Bangkok-style bar and restaurant Speedboat Bar Is about to open a second site on Portobello Road in Notting Hill.

 

Oak Taverns has acquired the Rose & Crown pub in Charlbury in the Cotswolds. It is the group’s 17th site. 

 

Scottish burger brand Monterey Jack’s is about to open at the St Enoch centre in Glasgow. It will be the group’s eighth site, with another following soon in Edinburgh. 

 

TRG Concessions has just launched a new pub at London Luton Airport called The Fletton. 

 

Sushinoya, a sushi restaurant in St Pancras led by Wasabi founder Dong Hyun Kim, has lined up three more sites, according to reports—in Chinatown, Charing Cross and Moorgate. 

 

On-the-go noodle chain Chopstix opened at the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton this week. 

The Big Mamma restaurant group has just launched its Italian concept Barbarella on Mackenzie Walk in Canary Wharf—its sixth site in London and seventh in total. 

 

Paesano, the Italian pizza brand owned by Di Maggio’s Restaurant Group. Has submitted plans to open on George Street in Edinburgh. It would be Paesano’s fourth site and first outside Glasgow. 

 

Fried chicken brand Wingers has just opened two new sites, in Rotherham in Yorkshire and Andover in Hampshire. It plans to open eight more sites before the end of the year.  

 

Starbucks has signed for an opening at Gloucester Quays retail park.
