The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

The New World Trading Company has submitted plans to open a branch of its Botanist bar and restaurant brand at the Highcross shopping centre in Leicester, local media report. There are currently 28 Botanist locations around the UK. 

 

Nando’s opened its latest new restaurant at the Arun Retail Park in Bognor in Sussex this week. It is an 88-cover unit with a small outdoor space. 

 

US brand Popeyes has just opened a 1,800 square feet unit at London’s Waterloo station—its first site at a UK travel hub.

 

US-based Mexican brand Chipotle is about to launch on the ground floor at the Lakeside shopping centre. It currently has 20 sites in the UK. 

 

Pasta Evangelists has opened its first standalone Pasta Emporium restaurant on Hill Street in Richmond, with another following soon in Greenwich. Pasta Evangelists has operated as a delivery business for seven years, and has a concession in Harrod’s. 

 

Thornbridge & Co is to open a new pub called The Fargate near Sheffield Town Hall as part of development plans for the city centre. Thornbridge & Co is a joint venture between the Thornbridge brewery and Pivovar, and currently has three pubs in Birmingham, Leeds and York. 

 

The Brew York group is to operate the food and drink offer at the new Market Hall in Goole in Yorkshire. The site will launch in 2025. Brew York currently runs seven pubs and taprooms in Yorkshire. 

 

Shaftesbury Capital has announced the signing of the Maguro Group’s Korean street food brand Bunsik on Wardour Street in London’s Chinatown. It will open a 900 square feet unit in September. Also opening is a Chinese burger concept called Kung Fu Burger in a kiosk on Shaftesbury Avenue—the fourth Chinatown location developed by restaurateur Alex Xu. 

 

The Stonegate group is about to open the 40th site for its Be At One cocktail bar brand on North Street in Liverpool. It is a conversion of an existing Stonegate pub, and becomes the second Be At One in Liverpool.  

 

The Rockfish group has secured permission to open its first café-style operation in Budleigh Salterton, local media report. The Budleigh Seafood Café will join up an old café with an adjacent storm shelter. Rockfish also has restaurant openings lined up in Salcombe, Sidmouth and Topsham. 

 

Lane7, the competitive socialising and food and drink group, has announced an opening in Dundrum in Dublin towards the end of this year. It will be its first site in Ireland. 

 

Japanese restaurant and bar group Kibou opened its sixth site this week, on Little Clarendon Street in Oxford. The other five Kibou sites are in Battersea, Cambridge, Cheltenham, Clifton and Solihull. 

 

The Heartwood Collection has just opened The Ropemaker pub and hotel in Emsworth in Hampshire. The group says it will open three more sites before the end of 2024. 

 

Slim Chickens has just opened a 3,500 square feet unit at Festival Place in Basingstoke. 

 

Gail’s is opening at the Cheshire Oaks development, local media report, in a unit previously occupied by Leon. 

 

Peter Pizzeria, an Italian concept with sites in Leicester and Loughborough, is to open a third location on Pepper Street in Nottingham shortly, local media report.
