New Openings Roundup 1st November

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Arc Inspirations has just opened a branch of its New York style bar concept Manahatta on Rose Street in Edinburgh. The 380 square metre venue becomes the seventh Manahatta for the group. Arc is also preparing to launch Manahatta in Nottingham, with another launch to come soon in Sheffield, for its sister bar concept Box. 

 

Shake Shack will open in Cambridge next year, local media report. It currently has 18 restaurants in the UK. The location of the Cambridge site is to be confirmed. 

 

The Jamie Oliver group is opening a café and cookery school at the John Lewis store on Oxford Street in the spring. 

 

The Heartwood Collection has opened its fourth pub with rooms—the Coat and Bear in Newbury in Berkshire. Heartwood is also preparing a launch at Epping Forest in Essex in early December. 

 

Zizzi opened a new restaurant on Victoria Place in Woking this week. 

 

The Henley Pub Co has acquired The Duke pub and restaurant in the town from Brakspear—its third location. The Duke will reopen after refurbishment in December.  

 

Mitchells & Butlers has submitted plans to launch an All Bar One in an old retail unit at Glasgow Central station. 

 

Stonegate’s cocktail bar group Be At One will launch on Watergate Street in Chester in mid-November, local media report. Be At One now has 41 UK sites.  

 

Norway-based restaurant concept Doug’s Hamburgers is launching into the UK with a sire at Circle Square in Manchester in the next few weeks. It is moving into the UK in partnership with Madre.  

 

US brand Popeyes opened a restaurant and drive-through on Wakefield Road in the Gilbersome area of Leeds this week. 

 

BrewDog opened its latest new pub at Edinburgh’s Waverley train station this week. It becomes BrewDog’s fifth site in the city. 

 

Rosa’s Thai has just opened on the high street in Kingston-upon-Thames—its 41st restaurant. 

 

Wingstop has opened at the Parrs Wood development in east Didsbury—its third restaurant in the Manchester area after the Trafford centre and Piccadilly. The new 3,400 square feet site has 70 covers. 

 

The Bubble Room, a champagne bar and restaurant in Alderley Edge and Bramhall, has acquired a third location on Stanley Square in Sale. It is scheduled to launch in late November. 

Denmark-based Japanese restaurant group Sticks ‘n’ Sushi says it will open at the redeveloped Battersea Power Station on 30 November. It will become the brand’s 15th restaurant in the UK and 30th worldwide. 

 

The Time Out Group says it is in negotiations to open a London Market at 10 Piccadilly. It will cover 20,000 square feet and is expected to open in 2027. 

 

The Korean Cowgirl, a Korean smokehouse concept with sites in Canterbury and Faversham, will open a third location in Ashford, local media report. It is taking on a unit at the Eureka park that was previously occupied by Chiquito. 

 

Glasgow-based peri peri chicken restaurant group Black Rooster is opening at Barrhead in the city. It currently has 17 sites in Scotland.
