New Openings Roundup 19th July

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Banana Tree, the pan-Asian restaurant brand run by the Big Table Group, will open next week at the Stevenage leisure park. It will be Banana Tree’s 21st location and its first in a leisure development. The 210-cover restaurant will have a bar as well as restaurant area. 

 

Loungers opened the Ritorno Lounge in the Harbourside area of its home city of Bristol this week. The 250-cover site is in a space previously occupied by Pitcher & Piano. Loungers also opened a branch of its Cosy Club concept in Sheffield this week. The Loungers group now has 228 Lounges and 36 Cosy Clubs. 

 

Iron Lilies, a premium bar and restaurant concept developed by the Tokyo Industries group, opened at the Princes Quay centre in Hull this week. 

 

PizzaExpress opened its latest new restaurant on Banbury Road in the Summertown area of Oxford last weekend. 

 

Slice & Dice, a New York-style pizza concept from the Elangeni hospitality group, opened at the Westgate centre in central Oxford this week. It sits alongside Benito’s, the Elangeni group’s core brand. 

 

The Barbary, a restaurant in Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden, is opening a new location in Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill in September. 

 

Birmingham-based Indian street food style group Karak Chaii has just opened in Rugby. It is the brand’s fourth new opening of the year, and 18th in total. 

 

Bristol-based Sandwich has just opened its first site in London—on Gresham Street. The brand currently has three sites in Bristol and has another London opening planned this year.  

 

The Six by Nico restaurant group will open at Cabot Circus in Bristol early next year, in a unit previously occupied by Carluccio’s. Six by Nico currently has 15 sites around the UK. Cabot Circus has also announced the signing of Honi Poke for its first site outside of London. 

 

US brand Popeyes opened at the Atria centre in Watford this week. 

 

Wingstop opened at the Midsummer Place shopping centre in Milton Keynes this week, as it closes in on the milestone of 50 UK locations. 

 

Lahpet, a Burmese restaurant with sites in Covent Garden and Shoreditch, opens a third location in Bermondsey this weekend. 

 

Peruvian brand LIMA is opening a third site within the Sun Street hotel in Shoreditch. The other two LIMAs are in Fitzrovia and Covent Garden. 

 

Hampstead-based Indian restaurant Bonoo is about to open a second site on Fortis Green in Muswell Hill.

 

Manchester-based US-style brand Archie’s has confirmed the opening of a new roller-skating venue called Archie’s Atomic at the Trafford centre in the city. It will have a 5,000 square feet rink as well as a diner and bar. 

 

Pret a Manger has just opened under franchise at Wellington Place in Leeds—its fourth site in the city. 

 

Street food and bar collective concept Stack has received permission to open at the Market Walk centre in Northampton, local media report. Work on the site is due to begin in October. 

 

Indo-Chinese group Oodles is about to open on the High Road in Tottenham. It now has close to 50 locations.
