New Openings Roundup 15th March

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

All-day group Caravan is opening by the Aviva Studios in the St John’s district in Manchester in the summer. The 10,000 square feet venue with 200 covers will be Caravan’s first launch outside London, where it has eight locations. 

 

Boxpark has announced it will open its new venue at the Cains Brewery Village in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle on 19 April. The 21,000 square feet site with capacity for 1,500 people will host eight independent food and drink operators plus live event space. Boxpark also has halls in Croydon, Shoreditch and Wembley 

 

Chophouse group Blacklock is to open a new restaurant in Manchester in the autumn, in a Grade II listed building off Peter Street. It will be Blacklock’s first location outside London, where it has five sites, in Canary Wharf, the City, Covent Garden, Shoreditch and Soho. 

 

London-based pizza group Yard Sale Pizza will open a 12th site on Dartmouth Park Hill in Tufnell Park in mid-April.  

 

Indian street food style restaurant group Mowgli says it will open on the high street in Lincoln in late May. 

 

Indian Tiffin Room has opened a fourth restaurant in north west England—on Duke Street in Liverpool. The other three Tiffin Rooms are in Cheadle, Leeds and Manchester. 

 

Loungers will open its latest new venue on Mill Street in Macclesfield next week. It will be called Panadero Lounge. Loungers has also just received planning permission to launch at St Peter’s Wharf in Ipswich, with an opening scheduled for October. 

 

Vietnamese street food style restaurant HOP is opening a 3,800 square feet unit on Market Street at the Arndale Centre in Manchester—a second site in the city after the Trafford Centre. HOP also has three locations in London, on Bond Street, St Pauls and London Wall. 

 

Mission Mars’ pizza restaurant group Rudy’s has secured permission to open on Central Way in Altrincham—its eighth location in the Manchester area. 

 

The Harts group will open its latest new site at the Battersea Power Station development in late April. It will be a Mexican taqueria-style venue called El Pastor Battersea. 

 

US-style burger group Chuck has just launched at the Food Dock at Gloucester Quays. It is Chuck’s fourth restaurant and first outside London. 

 

Bristol-based Sandwich Sandwich has acquired a first site in London, on Gresham Street in the City. It is expected to open in the summer. 

 

Franco Manca opened its latest new restaurant at the Barcode development in Plymouth this week.  

 

Gail’s is opening soon on Bridge Street in Chester, local media report. It has also lined up an opening on Regent Street in the Clifton area of Bristol. 

 

Japanese group Maki & Ramen has opened on Nicolson Street in Edinburgh. The brand has four other locations in Edinburgh, plus two in Glasgow and one in Leeds and Manchester. 

 

The Cinnamon Collection has opened a new restaurant called the Cinnamon Bazaar on Kew Road in Richmond, in a unit previously occupied by Carluccio’s.
