New Openings Roundup 14th February

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Market Halls will launch its latest new food hall in London’s Paddington Square on 4 March. It will become the fourth hall in London after Canary Wharf, Oxford Street and Victoria. The line-up of eight street food traders and two bars will include taco brand Breddos, Black Bear Burger and Roti King. 

 

Pizzeria group Santa Maria is to open a sixth restaurant in Norfolk Place in Paddington next week. It will join Santa Maria’s sites in Ealing, Fulham, Fitzrovia, Islington and Kew.

 

A new collective of independent street food operators is to be set up in Manchester’s First Street area in the Summer. It will be called House of Social and is part of the Vita group’s student accommodation development. 

 

US brand Slim Chickens opens a new flagship restaurant at London’s Leicester Square on 27 February. Other scheduled new locations for 2025 include Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Reading and Swansea. 

 

Mexican brand Plan Burrito opened this week in Camberwell in London. The group now has 13 locations around the UK. 

 

Taiwanese group Din Tai Fung will launch its fourth location at Crossrail Place in Canary Wharf at the end of February. It will have around 130 covers. 

 

The speakeasy-style Bootlegger Bars group has confirmed an opening on George Street in Bath in March. It will be a seventh location for the group, after Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Leeds and Richmond.

 

Asian noodle bar Chopstix opened at the White Rose shopping centre in Leeds this week—its first site in the city. 

 

KFC is launching a major new flagship restaurant at the O2 centre in London next week. It will have 180 seats over two floors. 

 

Pub and restaurant group The Northern Collective is opening a ninth site—the Cross Scythes in the Totley area of Sheffield. 

 

US brand Wendy’s is about to open on the High Street in Watford, local media report. 

 

US brand Blank Street Coffee has reached the milestone of 40 UK sites with an opening on Princes Street in Edinburgh—a second location in the city.  

 

London pub group Wellman Taverns has acquired a fourth site—the Cheshire Cheese on Little Essex Street near Embankment.

 

Wimpy has submitted plans to open in Chesham in Buckinghamshire, local media report.  

 

London-based Middle Eastern brand Bubala will open in King’s Cross in April. The other two Bubala sites are in Soho and Spitalfields. 

 

YouMeSushi opens under franchise in Brixton shortly. The brand has opened six sites in the last 12 months, with five more in the pipeline.
