New Openings Roundup 13th September

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Pizza Pilgrimshas agreed an opening on Sloane Stanley’s King’s Road in London. It will open the 2,000 square feet restaurant, with room for 80 people, in mid-November. The unit will also have a basement dining room that can be turned into a cinema.  

 

Vietnamese restaurant group Pho opened this week on Greenwich Church Street in south east London. The site becomes Pho’s 17th in London and 44th site in the UK in total. 

 

The Red Engine group says its latest new Flight Club site will open at the Westgate centre in Oxford on 22 November. It will become the group’s 14th Flight Club in the UK. 

 

Zizzi will open on Henry Plaza at the Victoria Place shopping centre in Woking in October, local media report. The group closed a restaurant elsewhere in the town three years ago. 

 

Modern eastern Mediterranean restaurant group Brother Marcus has just opened its fifth and largest site—a 4,200 square feet venue at Slingsby Place in Covent Garden’s The Yards. 

 

The line-up of operators has been announced for Fulham Pier, the new development between Putney Bridge and Hammersmith Bridge in London that is due to open next summer. They include a fourth site for Base Face Pizza, plus Fat Pickle, Raps, Goila Butter Chicken, Tacos El Rey, Roll Baby, Kiss The Hippo, Local Green, Wright Brothers and Happy Endings. 

 

US brand Wendy’s has applied for permission to open a restaurant in an old retail unit on St Sampson’s Square in York, local media report.  

 

The St Austell Brewery is opening in Broadway after acquiring the previously independent Bell pub there.  

 

US fried chicken brand Wingstop has announced an opening in Grey’s Quarter at Eldon Square in Newcastle in early 2025. It continues a rapid rollout for Wingstop brand, which now has around 50 sites in the UK.  

 

Smashburger has just opened on Hills Road in Cambridge. It is the first UK opening in seven years for the brand, which now has eight restaurants in England and Scotland. 

 

Vietnamese street food style restaurant brand HOP launched at the Arndale centre in Manchester this week—a second site in the city after the Trafford centre. HOP also has four restaurants in London. 

 

Black Cat Club, the live sports and gaming concept, opens on Park Row in Leeds next week, in a unit previously run by its founders as an El Gato Negro restaurant. It is a second site for Black Cat Club, after Manchester. 

 

US fast food brand Dave’s Hot Chicken has lined up its first UK location under a partnership with the Azzurri Group—on Shaftesbury Avenue in London. It plans to open up to 60 sites in the UK. 

 

Soma, a Soho cocktail bar set up by the team behind the Kricket group, has opened a second location on Frobisher Passage in Canary Wharf. It is next door to Kricket’s restaurant there. 

 

Seafood restaurant group Rockfish has signed a lease for a new opening on the seafront at Sidmouth in Devon, local media report. It is scheduled to open in late summer next year.  

 

Long Chim, a Thai restaurant group with sites in Australia and Dubai, has confirmed plans for a first UK site at Hovarda on Rupert Street in Soho. It will open there shortly and run into next year.  

 

Argentinian restaurant De Nadas is about to open a third site on Stoke Newington Church Street in London.
