New Openings Roundup 11th April

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Italian restaurant, bar and deli brand Lina Stores opens on Quay Street in Manchester next week. It will be the group’s tenth location and first outside of London. 

 

Fulham Pier, the new food hall by Craven Cottage stadium in west London, will open on 23 April. The line-up of operators will include a second UK site for India-based Goila Butter Chicken; Tacos el Ray, a new concept from the Breddos brand; Tinie Tempah’s Raps, Fat Pickle Burgers, New York-style pizza concept Slice and Dice, dessert brand Happy Endings and the Kiss the Hippo coffee group. 

 

US chain Church’s Texas Chicken has announced plans to launch in the UK. The first locations are yet to be confirmed. The brand currently has around 1,400 sites in 22 countries. 

 

The Nightcap group is launching a third branch of its live music venue concept The Piano Works in Cardiff in May. The other locations are in London.

 

The Individual Restaurants group opened a new pizza concept called Forbici on Cross Street in Manchester this week. 

 

Popeyes opened a new restaurant at Avonmeads retail park in Bristol this week. It has confirmed plans to open two more sites in the city—in Clifton and Longwell Green. Popeyes has also announced a strategic partnership with Popeyes UK to open in UK travel hubs, starting with Birmingham Airport.  

 

JD Wetherspoon will open on Chambers Street in Edinburgh after acquiring a unit on Chambers Street that was previously occupied by Revolution. It will be Wetherspoon’s eighth pub in the city. 

 

Black Tap Burger, the US-based burger restaurant and craft beer bar group, opens its second UK location on Glasshouse Street in Soho next week. The first UK site is at Westfield Stratford City.

 

Crust Bros, a London pizza concept operating in Earls Court and Waterloo, has lined up a flagship site on Bedford Street in Covent Garden for an opening later in the year. 

 

Food hall operator Blend Family is to set up a new venue in London called Tower Bridge Collective. The 16,000 square feet site at Tower Bridge Court will have 13 food and drink operators. It will be Blend’s fourth food hall and first in London. 

 

Argentinian restaurant brand Chango Empanadas has just opened off the high street in Hampstead in north London. It is the group’s tenth location. 

 

Slim Chickens has announced two more new UK sites on London’s Edgware Road and the East Midlands McArthur Glen Designer Outlet. 

 

Fulham bistro Josephine is about to open a second site on Blandford Street in Marylebone. 

 

The BVC hospitality group is to launch a French brasserie-style concept called 74 Duke soon. It is a two-floor site with 150 covers on Duke Street in Mayfair and will be BVC’s fourth London operation.

 

HMS Host has just opened a new Mediterranean small plates restaurant and bar called Alembic at East Midlands Airport. 

 

Dong Hyun Kim, founder of the Wasabi brand, is about to open a new on-the-go omakase sushi concept called Sushinoya at St Pancras station in London. A second site is following at Moorgate in May, with several more openings in the pipeline for later in the year.  

 

Di Xin Zhao, a China-based restaurant group, is moving into the UK with an opening at New Road in Oxford, local media report. It will be called Dishion.
