New openings round-up

Eden, Revolution Bars Group, Liberation Group, Flight Club and San Carlo are a few in this week's list of new openings.

Revolution Bars Group’s Revolución de Cuba has completed the refurbishment of their Manchester site. They will reopen today (26th July) with a relaunch party.

The group behind Borough Market’s Arabica are to open a second site in the Aga Khan centre in King’s Cross later this year. The restaurant will boast 100 covers, as well as an additional communal table and a 40-cover terrace.

Deltic Group has recently opened Eden in Portsmouth the first of three openings under the new brand. Bars in Manchester and Newcastle are to follow, after the purchase of three Tiger Tiger sites from Novus Leisure last year.

Social darts concept Flight Club has launched their new site in Birmingham this week. The social darts group has taken over an old TSB branch on Temple Street.

In an expansion of their partnership with Selfridges, San Carlo has opened a champagne bar at Manchester’s intu Trafford Centre this week.

Manchester Chef Nico Simeone has opened a restaurant in Manchester. This is the fourth site under the Six by Nico name, and his first site in England. With a new six-course tasting menu introduced every week, a fish and chips inspired tasting menu will run until mid-August.

Portuguese restaurant Bar Douro are to open a second site in the City following their success at their site in Flat Iron Square. Bar Douro City will take over a Grade-II listed building on Finsbury Avenue later this year, with 44 indoor cover and 22 covers out on the terrace.

The people behind Bun House have rebranded their original site in Soho into a late-night bar and restaurant concept called Wun’s with décor paying homage to 1960s Hong Kong.

Liberation Group’s Butcombe Brewery opened on Broad Street Townhouse on 23rd July in Bath. It features a café by day that becomes a speakeasy bar by night.

The former Prezzo-owned Chimichanga site in Kettering has become Jurassic Grill The venue features a “smoke-filled volcano” and 30 “life-like” dinosaurs under a rainforest canopy.

St Austell Brewery has acquired its first pub, The Bridge Inn, within Exmoor National Park.

Mediterranean-Japanese fusion group The Kitchens will open Bloomsbury Street Kitchen in the City next month. The venue is a fifth site for the group, after May Fair Kitchen, Monmouth Kitchen and Leicester Square Kitchen in London and Peter Street Kitchen in Manchester.

Restaurant company Rhubarb will open The Market at 22 Bishopsgate next year. The 450-cover food hall concept will have regularly rotated food stall and pop-ups as well as a restaurant and wine bar.

Nearby in the area, Eataly, an Italian food market, is setting up shop at 135 Bishopsgate and will also open in 2020.
